My litle puppy is dying

a few months ago I posted that I got a new puppy in this forum. But, *sigh* the poor little puppy has liver shunt where the liver cannot process blood proplery.

The little pup has not eaten for a couple days now, maybe three and won't drink either.

She does not appear to be suffering at all so why spend all that money to have her put to sleep? I sure wish I knew what to do. I feel so sad for the little pup. She was so happy when I got her but she just slowly went down hill till it eventuated in this last condition.

I took her to the vet and it was decided that the best thing for her was to put her to sleep. It only took about two seconds and she was gone.
I cried most of the way there, cried at the vets and cried on the way home. Life sometimes just is so very sad. She was such a happy puppy and brought so much happiness into my life. It is just so sad to see her gone. Today is my birthday and so this is a sad one indeed.  :sigh:

  I remember her picture so cute and sweet ,  I am sorry she had this aweful disease   , please call  for info though
my vet only charges 10 dollars for  merciful euthanisia
and not  any other charges  you might check around there are some very loving and kind vets   , like the one we have , he is awesome
and am gratful he is  in our area .

i had to give up my one eyed cat, she was a trip to watch and take care of, im not even a cat person but got suckered into a threelegged cat and a one eyed cat.

bisket the three legged cat is now all by herself without a buddy.

the little critters sure can get hold of us.

so sorry to hear that ton,
as you may know i lost my Sammy 2 months ago, i still miss him terribly, it's really hard losing a pet. i feel for you. God willing he is running about with all the other doggies somewhere!!!

So sorry about your pup Tony. The best healing medicine there is, is get another dog. It won't be long before your heart is on the mend.

We had to have our miniture doberman put to sleep two years ago. I like you, cried all the way there and back. I'll never forget the look that Prince gave me just before walking out of the hospital room, it broke my heart.

understandable indeed, for me, i would suggest you immediatly go and adopt a new lil guy. IMMEDIATLY and let the healing begin.

The loss of a pet can be as devastating as the loss of a child.  Believe me, I know.  I also know that right now it doesn't sound right to just get another dog, but trust me again when I tell you that once you do, you're heart will begin to mend.  It won't replace your little puppy (individuals are irreplaceable), but it will help heal you in other ways.  I felt the same when I lost my little Eric, a pygmy goat, at the age of four weeks old.  I still have Ned, and that helps in tremendous ways.

So terribly feeling for you, Tony.

I've lost many pets in my life and it is very difficult to endure at times.  My cat, Spice, right now is over 17 years old.  Yet you wouldn't know it.  She can still jump to ridiculous heights, and with the exception of some stiffness in her back legs, she gets around very well.  Even plays on occasion.  I will be very sad when she dies, I always cry for days when I lose a pet.  But hope springs eternal in the human heart and you can't stay depressed for long.  Life is too short, enjoy what you have of it, be grateful for the time you had with her and know that she was loved, that you made a difference in her short life, so many poor animals never are loved their whole life, but she had you!  Feel good!

Omg I have pygmy goats too, and we lost two and me and my husband just sobbed, I thought I would feel differently toward goats but I didnt, it dont matter, Im a dog lover but not as crazy bout my goats as I am over my dogs but I was heartbroken, you never know how you will handle something till the time comes.

I cant stand saying goodbye to any of my pets, its getting to the point that I dont even want anymore because I just cant stand saying goodbye, isnt that horrible?

I feel that way sometimes, but I care about animals so much that I have a terrible need to just adopt.  I've got to find a picture of Eric to post on here!

Anyway, Eric was less of a goat and more of a child.  His mother had accidentally gotten pregnant when she was very young due to her owners accidentally letting her in the pen with all the studs.  Knowing that I was looking for another pygmy goat for my miniature herd, they gave him to me.  He was only three hours old when I got him.

So, I had to buy a bottle for him, some milk replacer, etc.  He ended up living indoors with me, sleeping in my bed, and followed me everywhere.  I couldn't leave him alone, so he was in the car with me as well!  He cried whenever I wasn't around and always wanted to be held.  He was a round the dogs so much, he started to act like one himself!

One night, the muscles in his body just gave out.  I can't explain it, but he just went limp, began having seizures, and died an hour later.  No vet was open, so I was stuck trying everything in my knowledge to help the seizures and keep him comfortable.  It was horrible.

However, here's the interesting thing.  His last day on earth was his happiest.  A pastor at our Bible camp was looking for a goat for a demonstration about sacrificing animals (I know, I wasn't too thrilled about it), but I agreed to let him borrow Eric.  I drove him up and the little guy practically leaped out of my arms and went running towards all the kids.  He ran right into the middle of a prayer circle and looked up at everyone.  The kids were mostly from cities, as was the pastor, so they were pretty excited over a real goat being there.

Eric was also great while the guy talked about the animals that were used for sacrifice.  Eric had a funny grin, if anyone's ever seen a goat smile before, and wore it proudly throughout the entire lesson.  When it was over, it was back to following kids around.  I remember when it came time to leave, he fought and kicked me all the way to the car.  He didn't want to leave all those kids.

So in the end, he spent his last day evangelizing!  And, trust me, he brought more kids to the Lord in a single day than I have in my entire 22 years of life.  Why God chose to take him that night will always elude me.

Just had to get that off my chest.
