Which return Jesus was talking about
John 21:15-25 (HRB2012)
15 Then when they dined, Yahshua said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these? He said to Him, Yes, Master, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My lambs!
16 Again He says to him, secondly, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? He says to Him, Yes, Master, You know that I love You. He said to him, Shepherd My sheep!
17 Thirdly, He said to him, Simon son of Jonah, do you love Me? Peter was grieved that He said to him a third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Master, You perceive all things, You know that I love You! Yahshua said to him, Feed My ewes!
18 Truly, truly, I say to you, When you were younger, you girded yourself, and you walked where you desired. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you, and will carry you where you do not desire.
19 But He said this signifying by what death he would glorify Elohim. And having said this, He told him, Follow Me.
20 But turning, Peter saw the disciple whom Yahshua loved following them, who also leaned on His breast at the Supper, and said, Master, who is the one betraying You?
21 Seeing him, Peter said to Yahshua, Master, and what of this one?
22 Yahshua said to him, What is it to you if I desire that this man remain until I return? You come and follow me!
23 Therefore, the word went out to the brothers that that disciple does not die. Yet Yahshua did not say to him that he does not die, but, If I desire him to remain until I come, what is that to you?
24 This is the disciple witnessing concerning these things, and writing these things. And we know that his witness is true.
25 And there are also many things, whatever Yahshua did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose the world itself could not contain the books having been written. Amen.

For me , Jesus was talking about , returning from the dead , IN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH , This HOLY SPIRIT

Yes that is true His 2nd coming to me , I have always believed Jesus will return to us when we are in the night and dark moments and as individually , Keeping the saying No man knows the time or the hour when the SON OF MAN returns
but John had not been quickened yet , Till Jesus come to Him
So was Jesus rousing the dead to life under the RENEWED SPIRIT & Brightness of His coming ?
they were all sleeping for sorrow Luke 22 John was not expecting Him to come , but He was there in GLORY !!
Johns revelation was as Lightning from the east to the west Matthew 24 is to me exactly what happened to the SCATTERED FLOCK WHEN THE SHEPHERD was stuck ....
Matt 24
15But whenever you will see the desecrated sign of desolation that was spoken by Daniel the Prophet, standing in the holy place, (he who reads should consider)
16Then those who are in Judea should flee to the mountains.
17And the one who is on the roof should not come down to take what is in his house.
18And he who is in the field should not return to take his clothes.
19But woe to pregnant women and to those who are nursing in those days.
20But pray that your escape will not be in winter, neither on the Sabbath.
21For then there will be great suffering, which has not been from the beginning of the world even until now, neither will be
. 22If those days are not cut short no one would live, but because of the chosen ones, those days will be cut short.
23Then if someone will say to you, "Behold, The Messiah is here or there", you should not believe.
24For false Messiahs will arise and Prophets of lies, and they will give great signs so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25
Behold, I have told you beforehand.26If therefore they will say to you, "Behold, he is in the desert", you should not go out, or "Behold, he is in an inner room", do not believe it.
27For just as lightning goes out from The East and appears unto The West, so will the coming of The Son of Man be. 28Wherever the body will be, there will the eagles be gathered.
29But immediately after the suffering of those days, the sun will darken and the moon will not show its light, and the stars will fall from the heavens and the power of the heavens will be disturbed.
30And then the sign of The Son of Man in Heaven will appear and then all the families of the earth will mourn, and they will see The Son of Man who comes on the clouds of Heaven with miracles and many praises.
31And he will send his Angels with great trumpets, and they will gather his own elect from the four winds, from all the ends of the heavens.
32* But learn a parable from the fig tree: As soon as its branches bow low and its leaves bud forth, you know that summer has arrived.
33So also, whenever you see all these things, know that he has approached the door. 34Amen, I say to you that this generation will not pass away until all these things happen.
35Heaven and Earth will pass away, and my words will not pass away.
36But about that day and about that hour no one knows, not even the Angels of Heaven, but The Father alone.
37But just as the days of Noah, so will the coming of The Son of Man be.
38For just as they were eating and drinking before the flood, and they were taking wives, and they were taking husbands, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39And they did not perceive until the flood came and took them all away, thus will be the coming of The Son of Man. 40Then two will be in the field; one will be taken captive, and one will be left. 41Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken captive and one will be left.
42
Wake up therefore, for you do not know in what hour your Lord will come. 43But know this: if the house owner had known in what watch the robber would come, he would have been awake and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44
Because of this, be also ready, because at the hour in which you are not expecting, The Son of Man will come.45Who then is the servant who is faithful and wise, whom his Lord has appointed over the children of his household, to give them food in his time? 46Blessed is that servant, whom, when his master will come, will find doing this.
47Amen, I say to you, he will set him over everything that he has.
48But if an evil servant will say in his heart, "My Lord delays to come",
49And will start to beat his associates and eat and drink with drunkards,
50The Lord of that servant will come on the day that he does not expect it, and in the hour in which he is not aware.
51And he will cut him off, and he will set his portion with the phonies. There will be weeping and gnashing teeth."
For me Tony this is the very examples of what to look for and to happen to us all in the Lords timing Now please tell me what you believe was the return Jesus was talking about ?
I am all ears now
the way I read it is ....we are to follow Him unto the cross/death....and not concern ourselves
with those who remain alive unto His coming..that are changed in a twinkling and meet Him in the
clouds[as Paul revealed] for those that remain at His coming..will in no wise precede those
who have died, for Christ will bring those with Him....
that particular return is His coming on the clouds with the Heavenly hosts and in the Glory of
His Father..... although He doesn't leave as orphans and is with us in spirit until
then....knocking,coming in and supping with us.......
that RETURN to me signifys......the fullness

Both Jesus and John were very much alive in the verses I quoted.
QuoteNow please tell me what you believe was the return Jesus was talking about ?
I am all ears now
My post was/is a question.
But what I see.....
If "until I come again" is referring to His second coming, and that second coming is still in the future it means John still lives (2000+ years old)
Mark 10:38-40 "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said. "Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?" "We can," they answered. Jesus said to them, "You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared."
I think the cup is being martyred. John wasn't.
:dontknow:
"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Mankind in heaven, and then all the tribes of the land shall grieve, and they shall see the Son of Mankind coming on the clouds of heaven with power and much glory." (Matthew 24:30)
John has not lived 2000 years because Christ only said "if" which is explained in verse 23.
"Jesus is saying to him, "If I should be wanting him to be remaining till I am coming, what is it to you? You be following Me!" This word, then, came out to the brethren, that that disciple is not dying. Now Jesus did not say to him that he is not dying, but, "If I should be wanting him to be remaining till I am coming, what is it to you?"" (John 21:22,23)
 true..but also this was further built upon by Paul's revelation that ...we shall all not die
but those who remain alive at His coming shall all be canged in the twinkling of an eye.
also..there are the Elijah class............that ascended alive. John,if you can accept was the
Elijah that prepared the way for the coming of the Lord. Then Jesus stated that Elijah must
come again.....and many look for Him....

We both agree its Christ 2nd coming right ? and how the Lord appeared to John
I see John as spared for the very purpose of writing Revelations Tony
I found this piece and WOW!!
John surely suffered for the cause of Jesus Christ !!
The Apostle John is the author of the Book of Revelation. He wrote it when he was about 92 years old, while a prisoner of Rome on the remote desert penal colony of Patmos, an island in the Aegean Sea.
Patmos was a quarry mine for the Roman Empire, and was home to many political and religious prisoners or slaves. John, the beloved apostle of Jesus, was being held as a prisoner of Rome on this island for his incessant preaching about Jesus.
Rome believed that banishing the old man John to the remote and forsaken island of Patmos, that his voice would be quieted.
John was aged in years, and close to the end of his life, probably sent to Patmos in the year 95 by the Roman emperor
Domitian, who was reportedly angry at the fact that John was not killed when he was dipped in boiling oil. Since John was a contemporary of Jesus, John would have been by that time, well over 90 years old - making him very likely the only apostle to survive to such an old age.
The rest of Jesus apostles and disciples
were martyred decades earlier.
It was as if God supernaturally preserved John to bare record of The Revelation! Nothing short of miraculous Tony , confessing I have never been under that kind of torment from evil hard hearted men :Mcry:

Yes Tom agreed ! I see John as dead in the natural , but ALIVE IN CHRIST
I believe John was there in Patmos is a sleep in sorrow that is just as we do in the natural , when we sleep now , when going to bed and our bodies are not doing anything we are still alive in a natural body , but are not doing anything good or bad we are in a state of
rest waiting on the Lord to come .. As Hebrews 4 teaches us of entering His rest
But the Presence of God quicken His mortal body and will always be with the Lord
