Beloved Servant

Anthropology has always fascinated me.
And, since time immemorial, mankind the world over has believed in something greater than himself.
Be it: gods, spirits, natural phenomena, past relatives or whatever.
I wonder how Darwin explained that observing the tortoise on Galapagos.

"I would rather train twenty men to pray, than a thousand to preach; A minister's highest mission ought to be to teach his people to pray." -H. MacGregor

I was born with a hole in my heart
I needed a Physician right from the start
Everything I longed for ended in loss
it just left a big hole in the shape of a cross

There's a God-shaped hole in our heart
born with an empty soul right from the start
There's a yearning that's instilled, drawing us to Calv'ry's Hill
There's a God-shaped hole only Jesus can fill
Our hearts have a God-shaped hole only Jesus can fill

I didn't need to be taught how to sin
from my very first breath it was built right in
I can blame it on the devil, Adam and Eve
but in the end it comes right back to me

There's a God-shaped hole in our heart
born with an empty soul right from the start
There's a yearning that's instilled, drawing us to Calv'ry's Hill
There's a God-shaped hole only Jesus can fill
Our hearts have a God-shaped hole only Jesus can fill

I was born with a hole in my heart
I needed a Physician right from the start
I was born with a hole in my heart...
