John 5:29

"and come out--those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned."

Condemned means judged    as dead  to God , meaning they are still  not Alive to God
GOD IS THE GOD OF THE LIVING not the dead , but Christ is the LORD/ Master  of the living and the dead

for me they still have    the ability to be made alive to Christ by confession   ''  confess  Him '' every knee shall bow and confess the Lord   Jesus Christ  ,   we believe this  is truth ...

All that call on the name of the Lord shall be saved    , its in that hour of darkness  and ignorance  when the Light comes that we actually   believe  / obey

   con·demn
kənˈdem/
verb
past tense: condemned; past participle: condemned
1.
express complete disapproval of, typically in public; censure
.
"fair-minded people declined to condemn her on mere suspicion"
synonyms:   censure, criticize, denounce, revile, blame, chastise, berate, reprimand, rebuke, reprove, take to task, find fault with; More
antonyms:   praise
2.
sentence (someone) to a particular punishment, especially death.
"the rebels had been condemned to death"
synonyms:   sentence; More

LIFE AND DEATH are in the power of the TONGUE

When you confess Jesus Christ   ,  you have passed from  death to Life

  John 5"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. ;

25 Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

26 For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself;

27 and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is [f]the Son of Man.

28 Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29 and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

30 "I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

31 "If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not true.

32 There is another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true.

Here in    32  we know that NO ONE confesses CHRIST   but BY the Holy Spirit / this witness

1 Corinthians         12 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed"; and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

both are saying the same things only clarifying this     by   seeing the work of God  though Christ in the LIVING to GOD and being gathered into Christ   its a spiritual   thing and   no human man knows  this
only those born of the Spirit  / Living    now and raised   from the dead
  Hope this helps  Jason

Hi Jason, :o)

I wonder you mean by "Everybody will go to heaven"?

The whole die and go to heaven or hell forever concept is, if you look closely,  just tradition- not the word.

Jesus taught us to pray- "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Then, in many parables He taught, "The kingdom of heaven is like....."

He said, "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near".....

He taught, "The kingdom of heaven is within"...

Heaven is coming to us, within us.

We have this tradition of heaven as a place and hell as a literal pit of fire in which people will be immersed forever- but heaven is a state of being and has to do with having veils removed so that we can see what already is -but we were blinded to.

Paul says in Ephesians we are already "seated in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus".

He speaks of the mystery of God as "an administration suitable to the fulness(completion) of times-the gathering together into one of all things in Christ whether in the heavens or the earth"(Eph.1:9-11)

In Revelations it says that when Christ returns, "The veil in the heavens will be rolled back like a scroll".... "Every eye will see Him even those who pierced Him."

This is not about going to a place. The "place" is coming here. The new heavens and the new earth will be here- the veil between God and man will be gone- consumed with fire(the light of God is fire to darkness) as Peter teaches on the day of pentecost in one of his first sermons,

Acts 3:19-21New American Standard Bible (NASB)

19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; 20 and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, 21 whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time.

The process of darkness being consumed with fire- that is what Gehenna, or the lake of fire, are all about. Of those who go to be judged, some will be purged with fire. "Everyone will be salted with fire" says Jesus(Mt 9:29)

The heavens and the earth will be purged with fire, bringing forth the new(renewed) heavens and earth "in which righteousness dwells". This fire is the fire that John sees in the eyes of Jesus in Revelations 1, for our God is a consuming fire, and He placed all His fulness in Jesus. It is the fire of His light, His word, His love and His righteousness. It will consume all the darkness in men's hearts until all is light and God is all in all. "The light shines in the darkness and the darkness cnnot overcome it."

Col 1:19 For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all thingsto Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Ro 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

This, in Romans 8, is the new heavens and the new earth in which righteousness dwells spoken of by Peter in his epistle- the whole creation set free from corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God

We have been saved, not to avoid hell, or to sit like buddhists in some nirvana like heaven. We have been saved so that we become priests of God, ministering reconciliation with our high priest until every knee has bowed, in heaven and earth and under the earth, in this age and in the one to come.

Phil:210 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Rev 5:13 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,

"To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever."

1 Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For "He has put all things under His feet."But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

The judgment of the wicked does not lead to eternal torment, but unto their subjection(bowing the knee) to Christ and reconciliation to God. When all are subjected, death will be destroyed so that GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL.

If death is destroyed then the second death must come to an end. What end?

Paul says that all will be subjected to Christ, that God will be ALL IN ALL- even those who were formerly adversaries.

Paul says that All will be reconciled through the blood of His cross whether things in heaven or things on earth.

Paul says that all things will be gathered into one in Christ, whether things in heaven or on earth.

Rom 11:32 For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.

33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood. http://www.hell-is-a-myth.webs.com/

Hi Jason,

People tend to focus in on one verse and it gets scary.  Preacher especially use these types of verses to fear people into belief.

Matthew 25:46 is another that is used of this type of scare them into belief.

It is interesting that in Matthew 25 Jesus is talking to people who believe and thought that they where following Jesus.  To one group he says "depart from me, I never knew you".

Paul says that believers who build wrongly on the foundation of Jesus Christ will be saved, but by fire.

1 Corinthians 3
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

It is believers that are being spoken to by Jesus when he says depart from me.  They go to the fire of correction.   These words are all symbolic.  It is not actual flesh and blood, it is the same work that the Holy Spirit at this time is working in us who believe.

Jason76

I agree.  All sorts of verses point toward the lake of fire being a purging fire.  Of course, Catholics think it's purgatory for some weaker believers.  However, I don't think that's the case.

they have to take a side road before they reach home--that being the Fire for the purpose of correction and getting the impurities out of them. :dsunny:
