Burning Brimstone

Crazy how things can just " happen ":
Looked at the brimstone referred to in relation to the lake o fire burning brimstone:
    " a divine insence, because burning brimstone was regarded as having power to purify and to ward off disease. "
Used for them under the beast
Second death seems to be that purification.

?It?s curious to me how the three mentions of lake of fire are at large, earthly, fiery events..
