Was reading in another post and thought maybe to make a new one  here

When we offer ourselves [being under Jesus Christ authority ]   to others
and how to handle the rejection , God  than  leaves them in   their pride of heart and  ways of their doings ,   this is the judgment they have  heaped upon  themselves

as we shake the dust off our feet

For me this was the need for the foot washing Jesus so  deliberatly   showed the disciples   in example

Jesus says you are every wit  whole , but your feet     and this was to cleanse    the filth of the flesh off , because to be carnally minded is DEATH

Death  on your feet  , you  in Christ and Christ in God   are walking   over death   for Jesus is the LORD / MASTER of the dead and living   ['' teaching of Jesus Christ'' .  IS ,  till He puts all enemies under His feet ]This gospel , good news as a witness   to all the world  .

Luk 10:5   And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

Luk 10:6   And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.

Dont you find this just amazing !!!   verse 5  and 6   and just what it means !!
be peacably with all men !    if the son of peace  be there  as your peace is also   we rest  in peace ,    the Lord just gave a small  revelation as to what the rest is ,
and spoken thoughout His Word ,     you are no longer  wrestling with  evil   and the ministration of death [tree of knowledge of good and evil ]   but the   TREE OF LIFE  IS THE REST [JESUS CHRIST IS EVERYTHING ]    all included   as ONE SPIRIT AND TRUTH ]   HIS  peace His rest His work
we no longer labour in vain  , but to HIS CAUSE , HE IS THE HIGH PRIEST  , and you are apart of His body that   Cleasnses   and is Holy    , pure  , the pure in Heart shall see GOD

Luk 10:7   And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house

Luk 10:8   And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

listen to their spiritual food  shared  as well as eating the  literal foods  shared

Luk 10:9   And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

wow !!   speaking the oracles of God
we see some have milk and some have the strong meat [ doing the will of god though Jesus Christ ]   milk is sincere and honest and truthful  giving God his due glory honor and praise

the meat is what Jesus had that no man knew about [glorifying God the Father  over and over again ] !!

Hbr 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

1Pe 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Luk 10:10   But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
Luk 10:11   Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you

so close  but could not see   Gods kingdom for the  pride in their hearts to not change their minds /hearts   :sigh:  satisfied with  what they have

Luk 10:12   But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

Luk 10:13 ¶ Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

Luk 10:14   But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

Luk 10:15   And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell
the grave of death still dead in Adam and not alive in Christ

Luk 10:16   He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me
wow , your HIS FEET    touhing the earth   and the dust scatters   in  fear  of torment   , no rest  , still striving against      Jesus [the Lamb of God ]

Luk 10:17 ¶ And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Luk 10:18   And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven

no longer in heaven   mind /heart   to decieve !!  but in   your earth   for the destruction of your flesh !!!

Luk 10:19   Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

wow what a promise over the enemies    and no harm comes  upon  you !!!   seeing alot of revelation  scriptures come to life being  raised up here in Jesus words!    can you see them ?

Luk 10:20   Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven
more revelation  coming to Light  of your names written in the book of Life !!!

Luk 10:21 ¶ In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight
    amazing    is it not !!

Luk 10:22  All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him

seeing Jesus  and the Father   , those pure hearts  do see God!!!

Luk 10:23   And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
Luk 10:24   For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
wow  PRAISE GOD !!!  its exciting to just focus  on !!!
  Gods blessings
Jesus is the reward  !!

QuoteLuk 10:5   And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

Luk 10:6   And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
Idiom #35 - Son of ....

Luke 10
5 Now into whatever house you may be entering, first say, 'Peace to this household!'"
6 And if a son of peace should be there, your peace will be resting on it; otherwise, surely it will come back on you."

son of peace/house means a friend that's so close it's almost part of your family (family=house)

"Son of" is an idiom I can't explain. So I'll give a few examples.
Son of:
- the house => someone almost as close as familiy.
- death => deserves to die or condemned to die. When the Pilate sentenced Jesus He became Son of death
- gehenna => A person who surely will end up in 'hell'.
- Tentmaker ==> All dedicated members.
- eating ==> everything good for food.

So Luke said to greet the house (family). If they are friendly they welcome you. If not you retract your greetings and move on.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Quoteas we shake the dust off our feet

For me this was the need for the foot washing Jesus so  deliberatly   showed the disciples   in example

Idiom #5 - Shake the dust of your sandals means total rejection.

Luke 10
8 "When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.' 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11 'Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.' 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

Wipe the dust of ones sandals is often understood as "leave the town with not hard feelings toward it's citizens".
The Hebrew interpretation seems to be the opposite. After Jews had contact with gentile they symbolicly shook of the dust of their sandals. It symbolized non Jewish filth. Paganness. And "death". It's very similar to tearing clothes in front of a "dead" person. (mourning of a dead person)
I think it's also similar to Jesus calling the Scribes/Pharisees walking dead.
So (imo) shaking of the dust of the sandals was declaring someone spiritual dead. That's among the most serious Jewish insults. Not a "no hard feelings" as many Christians seem to think. It's utter rejection.
Verse 12 seems to agree with this negative interpretation. Why warn about a fate worse than Sodom if 'you' walk away with no hard feelings?

 amen Rose.....I had an occasion on you-tube several months back..where a Judaic preist

type was covered in a plastic garbage bag on an airplane. this due to..afraid he might fly over a

graveyard and become 'unclean'.  how apprpriate that his self-righteous religious flesh be in a garbage bag.

...and this is what the Holy spirit showed me........can these bones live?  and the God of heaven

brought bone to bone, ligament to joint..and covered with flesh and breathed the breath of life into them.

see the account of the prophet that was killed of the lion and thrown a grave..that when the other

prophet that caused him to disobey the Lord's command..request to be buried in his grave..and the

moment his body touched the body of the prophet killed of the lion..he sprang to life and wass

resurrected!!!!!  bone to bone..ligament to joint............the new creature is resurrectedin His image.

when the spirit of the Lord passes ove the dry scattered bones......something wonderful happens

Hi Shelia
amen , the dead  shall rise in Christ AND GIVE YOU LIGHT OF  LIFE !!    I have always thought this  place to be the grave  HELL  [dead mens bones]

Helps  so much to  believe   this  with more simple and  clear understanding !!  Thanking God again !
Jesus is the reward  !!

sheila

Look!   we always 'stumble' with our 'FEET'  if thy eye cause you to stumble pluck it out......

His angels shall keep you lest your 'foot' stumble against a stone.  the Christ stone...rock of offense.

the stone that the builders rejected.

odd...that gravestones were white-washed..that people walking in darkness  could better see to

avoid them!

neither does the feet say..I am no part of the body because I am not an eye or eaar.

sheila

How beautiful the feet shod with the gospel of Good news.

I like how "accept the food of the house" both physical food and spiritual.. not as competing.. but acknowledging.. nice..

I love the whole  chapter that Jesus is teaching us  about  Luke 10

Luk 10:25 ¶ And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Luk 10:26   He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

Luk 10:27   And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Luk 10:28   And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Luk 10:29   But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

Luk 10:30   And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

Luk 10:31   And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Luk 10:32   And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

Luk 10:33   But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

Luk 10:34   And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Luk 10:35   And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Luk 10:36   Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
Luk 10:37   And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

So its whomever  you find in need of help  along lifes way or the ones whom have  been done wrong ?
I would love some input on this one ....

Luk 10:38 ¶ Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

Luk 10:39   And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

feet /foot  Strong's G4228 - pous
a foot, both of men or beast

often in the orient, one put his foot on vanquished

of disciples listening to their teacher's instruction are said to be at his feet

Luk 10:40   But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me

Luk 10:41   And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

Luk 10:42  But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Adear friend shared this many years ago  and it made sense to me
She asked  did you ever wonder why Jesus said Marthas name twice ?

Do you think that it is  written    that way  on purpose ?
and than she said  to me

I believe it was because Martha was still double minded   and unstable in her ways  having the winds of doctrines   still swaying her    , so Jesus was speaking to    both minds
Martha   troubled   thoughts   was  on  much serving      but failed to be taught of Jesus first  , that would remain in her heart

I hope some other will share what they see  in Jesus words

Jesus is the reward  !!
