Hi All,

I have been reading different articles about the GWTJ and saw pretty much the same explanation from them all. Haven't really read much that UR's have said about it.

Would like to know what you all think the GWTJ is and when it will occur? Is it literal or a spiritual occurrence? Also, is there something that Gary has written on this?  Thanks.

Interesting to see what the church has done with the GWT subject.  Very similar to what they've done with the "Lucifer" subject.  We're taught that you are to never build a doctrine out of one verse, one quotation in Scripture and yet, BOTH of these subjects are mentioned only ONE TIME in the entire Bible.

KJV on the GWT
11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.  12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Read it slow . . .I'm going to repost the same passage with the same translation, but i'm going to modify it just a shade, see if you notice any changes.

1 Corinthians 2:14
The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can't receive the gifts of God's Spirit. There's no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God's Spirit and our spirits in open communion. Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God's Spirit is doing, and can't be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiah's question, "Is there anyone around who knows God's Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing?" has been answered: Christ knows, and we have Christ's Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3
17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Still think it's a literal place?  A literal event?  Funny thing about the Great White Throne Judgment topic . . .I've yet to see people emphasize the Light of the situation.  It's not about great-white-throne-JUDGMENT.  It's about GREAT WHITE throne judgment.  Since when does purity pronounce death to those to whom purification is given?  "White" is to signify purity is it not?  How GREAT is our God?  How GREAT is His PURITY?

When you take something dead and apply the GREAT PURITY of the Father to it . . .what do you suppose the outcome will be?  If death is cast into the lake of fire . . .does that not signify that the PURITY of the Father is GREATER than death?  So . . .if you death death, cast it into the forever-consuming fire, only one of two things can happen.  Either death reverses the fire, or the fire reverses death.  And what is death when it is reversed?  LIFE!!!  So what happens when the DEAD are exposed to the GREAT PURITY of the FATHER???  "but it says all the dead are cast into the lake of fire . . ."  Exactly!  Because it is the fire of God that does the purifying in us . .bringing our dead state to a resurrected one.

When Jesus came, did he come to pronounce life or death?  Is it his nature to pronounce death?  Is the mind of man in harmony or at emnity with God?

Rather than trying to get our minds to reason and dissect what is visible from our perspective, would it not be so much easier and better for us to allow God to elevate us to the ascended place in him to see things from "His" perspective?
His purpose from the beginning has been to dwell in us . . .why would he then destroy that which he created as his dwelling place?

How about this . . .we are temples of the Holy Ghost right?  Okay, question, "if" we are his temples, are we destructable?  I'm not talking about our outside tents, I'm taliking about our inner temple . . .is our spiritual temple destructable?  Then what would the GWT be for if not to PURIFY rather than DESTROY?  Why is a spiritually dead person dead?  Is it not due to the fact that THE MIND of the individual is what is in operation?  Truth is VEILED from the individual's understanding because the mind has decieved the person into believing a lie.  But when the Purity of the Father manifests, and the person SEES for the first time, there will be no rejection because TRUTH will become REALITY . . .reality will be transformed from a lie to everlasting LIFE.

That's why EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW and EVERY TONGUE CONFESS that JESUS IS LORD . .because every person will be ALIVE in the spirit to SEE and SPEAK truth.  The reason so many are dead is because they've embraced a lie.  And just as the lake reverses death into life, so it will also reverse lies into truths.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for your reply. Would you say that the dead that "stand before God" are not literally dead but spiritually dead? It says "I saw the dead stand before God".  How can dead people stand?

What do you think the books are? Could they be the Old Covenant, or two tables of stone that God wrote the Ten Commandments on? The book of life I believe, is Christ.

Some say that this occurs after the 1000 years but could it be that this judgment has already occurred, or is occurring?

It says in (Heb. 9:27) It is appointed unto ,an once to die AFTER THIS THE JUDGMENT. What I was thinking is, if we are dead spiritually then we are judged, thrown into the lake of fire. When we die to self, or our old man is dead, we have been judged, gone through the fire and have died the second death, all done in this life.

I tend to think that where it says,... (Rom. 2:3) For we must ALL appear before the judgment seat of Christ.  (2Cor. 5:10) (John 12:31) "NOW is the judgment of this world". ....that these verses are related to the one in Revelation.

Then again, could all of this just apply to Israel and the Old Covenant? The book of Revelation, I believe is a Jewish book written to the seven Churches which were Jewish. John was an apostle of the Jews. It does keep saying they are judged ACCORDIN TO THEIR WORKS, which we are not. Our works are the works of Christ working in us.

Does anyone see this like this? I would like to hear your opinion?

Just some things going through my head.

I try to see it ALL as spiritual.  Flesh for one, is temporary, and two, it can't comprehend spirit and three, it pofits nothing.  So yeah, those that are spiritally dead standing before the purity of the Father are having that which kept them dead, removed.  Once death is removed, again, life will manifest.  Judgement isn't punishment to men, it's refining that which is precious, but has infirmities to that which is precious and now becomes pure.

I like what you said.
Joh 12:24  verily, verily, I say to you, if the grain of the wheat, having fallen to the earth, may not die, itself remaineth alone; and if it may die, it doth bear much fruit;
