I love how we have at our fingertips good study aids. And I love the biblehub app on my phone. But even in such good study aids and in the study of the interlinear, it's amazing to me how often (it seems to me) translators, even there, run with the meaning of a word.

http://biblehub.com/greek/1067.htm - #G1067 - geenna (ge'henna) as we know is a valley.. fiery in more ways than one.. and I can tolerate how it says it's metaphor for afterlife punishment (though I do cringe when the word forever is used). But when I read something like this -

..the place of post-resurrection torment (judgment), refers strictly to the everlasting abode of the unredeemed where they experience divine judgment in their individual resurrection-bodies. Each of the unredeemed receives one at the Great White Throne Judgment (Rev 20:11-15), i.e. a body that "matches" their capacity for torment relating to their (unique) judgment.

   ?? How does anyone believe that?

It's bad enough it says:

originally the name of a valley or cavity near Jerusalem, a place underneath the earth, a place of punishment for evil.

(a transliteration of the Hebrew term, Gêhinnōm, "the valley of Hinnom") – Gehenna, i.e. hell (also referred to as the "lake of fire" in Revelation).

I consider all of that as running with the meaning.. except where it says valley.. we can assume Jesus was using it as metaphor for afterlife "correction", but it doesn't even really say that. It may simply be an idiom for calamity.. Earthly judgment. Coming to a bad 'end'.. (As a truth lesson, not as forever! Geesh, forever has been interpreted and added so often, it's totally assumed all over the place!)

I'm sorry if I offend anyone.. but I'm to the point where the whole hell myth or literal "wrath of God" is so ridiculous, it's practically making my eyeballs spin in my head.. :laughing7: The ever popular cultural myth of hellfire torment.. Not only not in the scripture as originally written (imo) but utterly unbelievable, being so totally illogical.

... :Chinscratch: something you said, Sheila.. It's been on my mind.. the three false prophecies, like frogs out of the mouth of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.. There was something occurred to me the other day, but I don't remember what it was! Purely speculation of course.. The beast (politics) not too hard to figure where that comes in as false prophecy/teaching, etc to gather to Armageddon.. the false prophet/teacher/teaching I figure has to do with man (in his mind/theory) sitting in the seat of God as the higher/highest power, that dog eat dog, survival of the fittest philosophy..

...the adulterated bread..? ..and the carnal nature like a virus, that acts like worms (in computer programs) ..the carnal nature that sees value in the horrible yet popular culture myth of hell..

To sheila I write .... I am so happy that those words "and that's all I have to say about that" was the last thing you said, because we can be our own worst enemy in stirring up anger in our own hearts ......

It reminded me of this:

Rev 2:2  I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
Rev 2:3  And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

but also that we do not hear the words "Rev 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

Christ is our "first love" and knowing that the proof of loving someone is "the forgiveness of sin" of which Christ is the physical manifestation of that word ..... "Forgiveness" ..... that we do not leave Him and let anger affect our whole being like cancer.

To MG I write, I love you as a sister in Christ, for I know you are, so please take this in the context of love ..... some do not need reminders of how angry someone can get towards those who reject UR ..... because I am one of them and I can easily fall into feeding more fuel to that fire, because I have done it many a time in the past .... I am still learning patience, for it was the first thing that was destroyed by sin in me therefore it will be the last thing to be restored.

I know I have posted my anger here also in the past, but that is one thing that is being put to death in me, more so now than before.

and I hope you don't take offense to my words, I guess I can do what sheila did, speak my mind and leave it at that.

 the holy spirit is particularly working on patience,long-suffering of late with me.Haste makes waste,patience is a virtue of grace....

..indeed,as my sister Rose speaks often of...the wrath of man does not work the willof God.

Marie,had a thought regarding the 3 unclean spirits and their manifestation. they are opposed to faith,hopeandlove that remains..

and are eternally consumed/cut off in LOFsecound death..just as death is cut off.

    I hear His word unto me..as.".believe me,trust me and love me" and 'rejoice!"

    any and all things suffered..will be thought of as not even worthy to be mentioned due tothe great joy andGlory that will be

at His restoration of all.   Praying that we may all be enabled to love Him and our fellow man /brother better...and meet that perfect

Amen. We should always resist the temptation to anger.. And we can always remind our self that there's no need to be angry.. even if we are talking with others who may feel anger towards us.. And it's the doctrine (untruth) we despise, not the folks.. I've heard folks say how Christians are so pushy and obnoxious, and if I get the chance I tell them it's because they believe unless you repent and believe, you will perish.. or worse! Why they should all be very obnoxious and pushy!

Fortunately, we realize we don't have to be.. so that's another thing we are free from! :banana: And the more we believe the truth and see it confirmed over and over in God's Word(s), the less untruth bothers us.. for the truth has no need of our defense. For it shall remain standing, when all else has fallen away and to the wayside, never to rise again.

The whole planet is covered with untruth like a soaking wet heavy quilt set low in the atmosphere. If we give in to the temptation of anger or dislike.. and to the (mental) beating of our fellow persons.. Oh dear! Why it's even true that if we get caught up too much in hating hatred, it will rob our life of the peace and joy the Truth gives.
