Title: "will be judged by what's written in the books"
Post by: marie glen on February 27, 2016, 10:20:14 PM
happy Saturday!

Hubby and I were watching Saturday morning westerns when somebody said a line that reminded me of the verse.. Rev 20 verse 12, that says the dead (the second resurrection) will be "judged by their works, according to what's written in the books".

I usually sort of breeze right over that verse, I realized, but lately I've been thinking of verses like "it will be more tolerable for them on the day of judgment than" another..

Sometimes I think there will be good stories on Judgment 'Day'. I think of that day (of reviewing all history?) as a very heartbreaking day.. (as the lesson of good from evil is brought home to all..But I can't help thinking the acts of bravery, faithfulness, kindness, won't be overlooked. "God" after all "is love".

Do you suppose there is an angel assigned to each of us, writing it all down as officers of the Court?

One day upon looking at those verses I noticed that it said the books were opened and then it said another book was opened the book of life. It afterward said the dead were judged by the things written in the books. It didn't say the book of life was excluded though it seems that is how it's taught religiously.

At one time I thought the dead were judged by those things just written in their individual book (life) but after noticing that all the books were opened first I looked at it as GUILTY FIRST / FORGIVEN SECOND. Sort of like a life review but receiving mercy since the books opened included the book of life too. :HeartThrob:

I had looked high  and low for the ''books''     When doing a though  search on them     years ago ,,,,    the books being opened are the seals being broken  and the judgments coming forth /bitter   as well as the rewards / sweet ,  I always figured it was Daniel     12  confirmed it for me  , because the seals were   on them till the time and than they were opened in Rev 10

One told me it was the little book of Amos , but I never understood his  speech      found this today , if some one else knows  http://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature/o/old-testament-of-the-bible/summary-and-analysis/the-prophetic-books-amos (http://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature/o/old-testament-of-the-bible/summary-and-analysis/the-prophetic-books-amos)
Memorial   book remembering the dead memorial, reminder, remembrance

Exodus 17   ...13So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

14Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this in a book as a memorial and recite it to Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven." 15Moses built an altar and named it The LORD is My Banner;...

The  the little book  in Rev 1o cannot be Rev , he had not wrote it yet ..........  This little bitter sweet book , is the judgments   in the belly    working though      but it is so sweet on the lips   to speak of and  hard to digest   , seems the Lord speaks of what is from the heart is what defiles  us

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jer%2015:16,%20Ezek%202:8,%20Ezek%203:1-Ezek%203:3&version=NASB (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jer%2015:16,%20Ezek%202:8,%20Ezek%203:1-Ezek%203:3&version=NASB)

For me the Cross   of Jesus Christ is when   everything turned around     heaven opened and so did the books , it is that simple for me now  , but not   for  all .

Have you ever considered that "we" are the books being opened and the seal that is being broken is the veil being rent from top to bottom in us?

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

The great white throne, sometimes referred to as the white throne judgment, is the time when God judges all the rest of mankind who were not in the first resurrection. These are those in the second resurrection, the resurrection to judgment. This occurs at the end of the ages (eons) and is synonymous with the Last Great Day referred to by Jesus in John 7:37.

In the second resurrection, the dead, small and great, will stand before the white throne to be judged. The book of life is Jesus Christ Himself as we see in Rev. 13:8 and John 11:25.  The Word of God, the Logos is Jesus Christ.  The other book chronicles our works during our life time.

Php_4:3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
Rev_3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev_13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev_17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Rev_20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev_20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Rev_21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Rev_22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
When God mentions being blotted (erased) out of the book of life or cast into the lake of fire it is a temporary condition. It does not say blotted out forever.  The purpose of the lake of fire is to bring those in the second resurrection to repentance and salvation.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

They will be judged according to what they did in their lifetime.

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Those not found in the book of life are cast into the lake of fire. These are those who are not in the first resurrection. They are the evil people mentioned in verse 8 of Revelation 21. Why are they cast into the lake of fire? To be tortured forever in hell fire? No.
These verses do not say this group of sinners will be tortured by this fire, it does not say they are killed or die, it does not say if they ever come out of the fire or how long it would last.

It is the "works of the flesh" that made sinners of those thrown into the lake of fire in the first place. It is these very works of the flesh that are consumed in this lake of fire.

Many who have committed atrocious crimes towards the Lord are probably few. Most of humanity that will be judged in the lake of fire have never even heard of Jesus Christ, let alone, "trodden underfoot the Son of God, and counted the blood of the covenant, an unholy thing, and done despite unto the Spirit of grace." Most have never even heard of such sins, let alone committed them. They will not be judged as harshly as those who committed the worst sins. Apostle Paul tells us that every persons works will be revealed by fire, and in the judgment process all will be saved.

1Co 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

The wood, hay and stubble are the works of the flesh. They are the chaff that must be burnt by God.
God's judgment is through chastening (I Cor. 11:32) and it is for good leading to salvation. We should not think that God changes His standard when He likewise judges the wicked, unjust, and non-believers at the great white throne.

Some good stuff in this thread.. very interesting.. tho I couldn't find when rereading who wrote "Jesus is the book of life"..  :iagree:

I can't help thinking there is relevance to how the chapter is set out..

.."the earth and sea give up the dead in them.."

they are "before the throne" ..."the books are opened"

and "they are judged by their works (life) by what is written in the books.."  ..metaphor (imo) tho it's all written in Yahweh's awareness..! "..the queen of the south will rise up on judgment day with this generation.." .."more tolerable on the day of judgment.."

and the last verse - "those not believing will go to the lake of fire" (washing)

...but who, by then... isn't going to "believe"?

Also, if his first advent fulfilled, and was prophesied by the spring holy days (of ancient israel) then don't the fall ones prophesy his long 2nd advent? of trumpets, 10 days later doa, and 5 days later tabernacles..? "10 days" in place of 1000 years (millennium) so "5 days" in the place of 5000 years (oops! Make that 500  )(between doa and "tabernacles"-rev 21:1-5)

..The doctrine that Yahweh wakes up the not yet saved and simply dumps them into a lof, to my mind, has zero logic. Call me crazy, but I just can't see it...

Dan 7  I beheld til the thrones were cast down and the ancient of Days did sit...v 10 the judgement was set and the books were opened.

v 13 one like the son of man came with the clouds of heaven[return]  v14 and there was given Him dominion....

Matt 25;14 the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling into a far country, who called His own servants and delivered unto

  them His goods.

Rev 10;11 and I took the little book out of the angels hand and I ate it........Thou must prophesy again before many peoples nations

   tongues and kings.

Rev1  The revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto him,to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass

and He sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John. Blessed is he that readeth and they that hear the words of this

prophecy, and keep those things that are written therein, for the time is at hand.

And I was in the spirit on the Day of the Lord...2Thess 2;2    that ye be not soon shaken in mind,or be troubled neither in spirit

nor by word,nor by letter as from us..THAT THE DAY OF CHRIST IS AT HAND    Let no man deceive you as otherwise;

for that day shall not come.except there come a falling away first[Laodecian church spewed out]  and that man of sin be revealed,

the son of perdition.  Who oppsoeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God,or that is worshipped;so that he as God sitteth

in the temple of God,sheweth himself that he is God.[saints/churches overcome of the dragon..til Court sits]

Jude 4-25  certain men slipped in unawares[man of sin/son of perdition]   and the angels which kept not the first estate but left their

own habitation,he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of the great DAY.

Ester...the letters ch 9;13  the copy of the writing for the commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people

Odes of Solomon  Ode 23 [the references to the sealed document sent by God is one of the great mysteries of the collection]

Joy is of the saints, and who shall put it on but they alone?  Grace is of the elect! and who shall receive it except those who trust

in it from the beginning?  Love is of the elect, and who shall put it on but those who have possessed it from the beginning?

Walk ye in the knowledge of the Most High without grudging;to His exultation and to the perfection of His knowledge.

AND HIS THOUGHT WAS LIKE A LETTER; His Will descended from on high, and it was sent like an arrow which is violently shot

from a bow.;  and many hands rushed to the letter,to seize it,to take it,to read it. And it escaped their fingers, and they were

affrightened at it,and at the seal that was upon it.  Because it was not permitted of them to loose it's seal;for the power that

was over the seal was greater than they.  But those who saw it went after the letter that they might know where it would alight,

and who should read it and who should hear it.  BUT A WHEEL RECEIVED IT AND COME OVER IT; and there was with it a sign of the

Kingdom and of the Government;  and everything which tried to move the wheel it mowed and cut down; and it gathered the

multitudes of adversaries, and bridged the rivers and crossed over and rooted up many forests and made a broad path.

The head went down to the feet, for down to the feet ran the wheel, and that which was a sign upon it. The letter was one of

Command, for there were included in it all districts; and there was seen at it's head, the head which was revealed, even the

Son of Truth from the ost High Father. And he inherited and took possession of everything, and the thought of many was brought

to nought.  And all the apostates hasted and fled away, and those who persecuted and enraged became extinct.

AND THE LETTER WAS A GREAT VOLUME,WHICH WAS WHOLLY WRITTEN BT THE FINGER OF GOD; AND THE NAME OF THE FATHER

WAS ON IT,AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT,TO RULE FOREVER AND EVER,HALLELUJAH.

Judge nothing before the appointed time.  Do you not know ye shall judge angels?  Dan 7   the judgement was set and the books

      were opened

Post by: marie glen on March 18, 2016, 04:36:22 AM
The thing I notice most is really a very simple thing.. "those not written in the book of life" i believe is like saying 'those not believing'

7 When the thousand years are over.. [the millennium of Jesus, "kings and priests to our God, and we shall reign on the earth." Rev 5:10. "lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years" 20:4] "The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended" Rev 20:5 (but for the grace of God..)

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.

I figure this (surely?) is going to take some amount of time.. ("it will be more tolerable for them on the day of judgment than" another.. there's a few verses like this which Jesus spoke

and i think that all in heaven and earth will witness this 'day' of judgement (greek-"day of decision" - punishment is from a root meaning to curtail) -

so now, by then, all unbelievers (the 2nd resurrection) have experienced being awakened from their grave, and then will witness what surely will be a very long day of the review of all human history..

14 Then. death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. (I figure, not many, by then, will still be not believing :2c: )

~~ i think His long 2nd advent is prophesied by the Fall Holy Days of trumpets ~ 10 days/1000yrs later = DOA for the DOA - i.e. day of atonement for the 2nd resurrection/all those "still in their sins" ('dead on arrival') ~ 5 days/500yrs later = Tabernacles/"all in all"

I believe this because the Spring holy days, Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, was fulfilled by His 1st advent.
Plus, there is 3 Autumn holy days.. and there are 3 peaks of His long 2nd advent
(imo) ages in the Bk of Rev = u.r. :2c: :cloud9:
