Beings that we're from all over the world, I was curious as to what the status was with your outdoor elements as we come up to the Christmas Bash . . .

Being in Iowa, we've been around zero for the past week or so.  We got 4 inches of snow on Tuesday . . .and there's a bigger storm brewing with 5 to 10 inches hitting us in a matter of hours . . .this one is to include freezing raing though . . .I hate dealing with the ice.

What's your location and weather like???

I'm in Arizona. There was a huge snow storm...4 inches.  Huge for us!!  Schools shut down, slick roads. I think it is over now.

61 degrees right now in Fort Worth, Texas and drizzly.  I'm thinking we'll be in the 70s tomorrow, but we did have a few days of weather in the low 20s with teen wind chills where the wind was really howling, so it hasn't been the total Hawaiian thing that my talking about today and tomorrow could sound like.  I genuinely want about 36 to 48hrs of sub zero temperatures in order to kill off all of the Africanized honey bees that we've had since the late 80s whoops in South or Central American or wherever it was that someone had a few too many of a certain species of bees that are probably more dangerous in Africa than the cats!  Not this past summer, or at least I didn't hear anything, but summer of '07 we did have some folks and their pets totally pin cushioned to death by a swarm of those very aggressive bees probably within a quarter mile of me.  And I'm like anyone else, just thinking "oh dear" when they mention something in some other county, but when it's a few blocks from here I had the same "oh d---" reaction that any of you would have likely had by the description of how many of those bees "suddenly" attacked and finished the kill.  So, yeah, it's fabulous here by comparison with the Northern parts of the country, Canada, and other parts of the world that are popsicles right now, but if you run over here to see what heat is really like, take it easy around the bushes and trees until you've scanned the area and are fairly sure that there isn't even one of those nearby 'cause that type of bee usually means the whole freakin' gang isn't far behind.  Some cities have crime bosses, we have bees that'll wack you.  I'd rather have Al Capone, personally, 'cause as long as I wasn't perceived as a threat to his agenda, his profits, etc., then all would be cool.  But these bees sometimes attack "just for the hell of it."

Oh, by the way, now they're saying after this system goes through . .dumping the 5 to 10 inches on us . . .a bigger system is supposed to hit us Saturday bringing up to 14 inches . .sigh . . . and . .on top of all of that, here at Quaker, we are running all production lines straight through the weekend due to us being shut down earlier this week from our power plant still not fully operational from the flood . .the extreme cold forced them to shut us down so they could keep the hospital heated . . .gonna be an intersting weekend.

I live in Lubbock, TX on the South Plains.  We have a saying around here concerning the weather: "Don't like the weather?  Wait a minute, and it'll change."  Seriously, weatherman is probably the worst job to have in our area because the weather is NEVER consitent.  For example, I've lived here for 18 years and have never seen a White Christmas.  I've seen a White Halloween and even a White Easter, but no, not a White Christmas.  I guess it could be worse, but still, it's pretty irritating.

  cold , and than warm , its a mixed bag in Southern  Indiana
  we just had a terrible Ice storm    and many wrecks   and some deaths because of it
  I tell you this weather is madness .......
  very wet and misty now , tomarrow 55 high and  back down to 28  at night
  and than   more icy mix of rain and snow possible  by the weeked
  my son  was home  as well as my daughter and they have  had the computer and phone all tied up  , I mtook it  tonight to get caught up 
on  reading the TM boards! 
  winters in Indiana  are very unpredictable  :sigh:

I live in the St. Louis, Missouri area, and I've been enjoying about 80 degree weather, and golf day after day.

Of course I've been watching the Golf Channel...here it's been sleeting/freezing rain, and it looks like a very cold, early winter :(

Smart Aleck! I totally bought that.

Our storm hit early last night . .roads are pretty bad right now . .still snowing out.  20 miles north they got all snow . .currently at about 9 inches.  20 miles south, they got all freezing raing, power outages, traffic accidents, it's a mess.  We started with the ice and turned to snow . . we have about 5 or 6 inches so far with snow continuing until about noon today.

I don't know who told me about that second storm, but I heard the forecast for this weekend and they were saying "maybe" an inch . .not the 14 that some guy told me he heard.

It's been nice and cold for the last couple of weeks though - even had some fairly heavy (well, NOT heavy, but for us :winkgrin:) but it was enough to get a couple of snow balls going - very rare in these parts!!!

I live in Southern Arizona.  I had to let my faucet drip last night cuz the temp went below zero and I didn't want frozen pipes in my mobile home.  Last winter was pretty cold here and I'm thinking it's gonna be the same this year.  No snow here yet tho, just up in the mountains.  The first winter I was here tho it s nowed, I got lost going to my CNA class because they blocked off a slippery bridge and I got confused as to where I was cuz the snow clung to the street signs and I didn't know that the first street I came to when I turned didn't go strictly north and south and I ended up way away from where I thought I was.  And we had our first test that day and we had been told if we were late to class we couldn't take it or make it up and would get a zero for that test.  But when I finally got there, I was one of the first to make it, so they relented and started the test late when most everyone had got there and even let some who couldn't get there at all take it the next day.  Of course the snow was melted by the time we went home that day.  Even though there are a lot of snowbirds here in the winter no one here knows how to drive in snow.

Here in Iowa, we had about 9 inches of snow on the ground as a result of several storm systems that have gone through and then just in the last two days of temps in the 50's, almost all of it melted away . . .only to have the temps drop out again and we got 2 inches overnight . . .can't seem to make up it's mind as to whether it wants to stay or go.

I am shocked that it gets so cold in Arizonia, I had believed pretty warm all the time and SNOW what a shock!
Today was pretty chilly here in middle Tn about 39 degrees, tomorrow will get in upper 50's with sunshine! :girlheart:
