The Railway Man

If you have an opportunity to see, "The Railway Man", starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, You will never see a more poignant expression of redemption, kolassis, forgiveness and atonement.

It inspired me to write this poem.

The Railway Man

You traced the map of all my scars
Your fingers upon my back
And followed them to the place
Where lonely stars shine
Against the black of night

You walked with me as I found my way
As I rode the rails
Through my tunnel of pain
Through that deep crevasse
You held my hand
Until  we walked together into day

For we laid to rest all that laid us bare
As we buried the hurt with our enemies there
Staring down at us from their cliffs of stone
Sowing seeds of hope only we could share
In that blessed ground
Shame and death atoned.

You traced the map of all my scars
Lines of rage and sorrow
Upon a page stained with tears
That fell like gentle showers
Over the cliffs of stone
Where we wept together
Nevermore alone.

Looked it up and it's british, that shot it down for me, although it did mention Australia.

Its a joint british/australian production. Has some of the understated British flavor to it but still one of the finest films I've seen, in terms of portraying the heart of Christ and how ultimate reconciliation will be achieved.

I still can't wrap my mind around Christ being British. It must be one of those mysteries. By the way, I enjoyed the poem.  :friendstu:

It took me a while to wrap my head around the idea of Christ being short haired, dark skinned and average looking  :laughing7:

The portrayal may have been entirely accidental :o), but sometimes thats how God works ;o)
