(Michael W. Smith)

Above all powers
Above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began
Above all kingdoms
Above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what you're worth
Crucified
Laid behind the stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all
Above all powers
Above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began
Above all kingdoms
Above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what you're worth
Crucified
Laid behind the stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all
Crucified
Laid behind the stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all

I love this song....I am a big Christian music fan.

I actually heard Michael sing this one in concert, at a Manhattan concert, in a Salvation Army Hall, a few years back. My friend couldn't make it, so he gave me his ticket.

Thank you for sharing!

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

Matthew 7:7 -8

Oh! I remember this one! Sang it in High School Mass!
John 1
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

We've had some snowy weather in the STL area.  I was looking at closings related to weather and saw this;  "Whosoever Will May Come Church - Closed".

..the repeating of the stanzas really make the impact of the words shine through..

...rejected.. alone.. spit on.. trampled..

How joyful we will be able to be, for Him.. when He comes in His full glory.. celebratory..
..a spiritual feast.. a banquet

..and never again, a 'church' closed!?

What patience God has.. as He "awaits the fruit of the Earth.."
:Chinscratch: ..It's really only a remnant that is the firstfruits at His return..
(kind of large though? considering Rev.7?)

And "first" (fruit/harvest).. implies at least one other.. [As we know, of course! believers transformed at His return, and all the rest at "the end" referred to in 1 Cor.15:24-28]

What beautiful words.. :dsunny:

Child praying before bedtime while dad listens;  "God, make me like my daddy - big, strong, smart."

Dad praying afterward in his room;  "Lord, make me like my child - obedient, faithful, trusting".

Amen. That is what my Catholic grammar school taught us well. And I am forever grateful.

Serviam!!!

D.

Taken from my grammar school's website, today.

Our History

For over 100 years, St. Philip Neri School has been serving students in the Northwest/South region of the Bronx.  Opened on September 8, 1913 by the Ursuline Sisters, under the leadership of Mother Jerome Oliver, O.S.U. and Msgr. Daniel F.X. Burke, St. Philip Neri School has preserved the Ursuline emphasis on service to the Chruch and the world.  In fact, our School motto, Serviam, means "to serve".

Our school crest in designed in the Ursuline tradition and includes the cross of Christ surmounted by the stars of the constellation Ursa Minor (from which the name "Ursula" is derived). As the North Star, found in Ursula Minor, points the way for seafarers, so to does Christ point the way for us.
7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

And amen Dandelion, "Christ points the way for us".

...serve.. be like Jesus of a quiet, calm spirit of love.. It's all about Him, it is not all about us.. when did the house shake while they were praying? When they prayed as one and prayed to speak God's Word with confidence and resolve..

This was in my reading today. It seemed to me key to their serving.. that early first 'church'..

And this is the way I think we will serve during the millennium and the judgment... (?)
