Mark 11:14 records how Jesus on His way to Jerusalem cursed a fig tree for having no fruit. I think of this as Jesus doing a metaphor in action.. :gsmile: On the way back out of Jerusalem to Mt of Olives (park/garden) the disciples said "look!" The tree he had cursed was dead right down to its roots.. (Later verses, Jesus says "remember this".)

Point 1 - it says right in the verse how it wasn't time for it's fruit.

Point 2 - the verse via translation says, the Lord had said "let no one eat fruit from you ever again" but of course in the iriginal, it says, let no one eat fruit from you unto the age..

...In response to the disciples saying "look!" Jesus said "remember this, if you have faith in God you can say to this hill 'be rooted up and cast into the sea, and if you do not doubt but believe what you say will happen it will be done for you, for this reason I tell you when you pray, believe you receive it and you shall.. (if you have not unforgiveness in your heart.)"

Metaphor of course for nonbelievers having no (Godly) fruit, not "for ever" but "unto 'the' age"..

ET metaphor via translation, but in the original = UR/CU.

In this one illustration, the Lord taught - how to pray, and receive, to not have unforgiveness, and a lesson about life and about those who bear no fruit in this age.. (or so it seems to me anyway, at least all these things he was able to bundle all up together.. ”Remember this..”

“What God has begun, God is faithful to finish..”

..Paul said, ”he has begun a good work in us..” And that’s true for believers today... “when ye pray, believe..” “will he not give the Holy Spirit to those who ask..?” the answer to all things?

Uprooted and cast into the sea.. gives the image of a LOT of power at work.. If we only knew.. yes?
..”the same power which rose Jesus from the grave..” I believe the rest of the verse is “is at work in us..”

:2c:the fig tree speaks to me of covering the people's shame[nakedness of sin]of coarse Israel covenant ministry of death was about

exposing sin as a tutour...to lead to Christ/God's forgiveness/mercy/atonement for sin. Basically, thelaw exposes the nakedness of sin.

and Christ's blood covers it.Unforgiveness inyour heart can also bedenying the atonement bloodof Christ covering all mens sins ever

committed.

works under the law to make one righteous is like a fig leaf covering for our naked sinful state.Blood/lamb/skins is a better option.

a gif[fig]  for God's gifts and callings  are without repentance.thus those who arise without repenting while on earth[like Israel and those

also too,set aside while onthisearth] will not fail to receive their freegift of eternal life when called up from the grave by Jesus.

Amen! fig leaf covering.. I was going to write I was sure there was more lessons also..  :Chinscratch: lamb's skin.. definitely all would prefer as covering than fig leaves.. even wool - but if you try to weave your own, wool in natural state is very itchy! :laughing7:

And amen!! We were trained to think of "the resurrection to judgment" as a resurrection to punishment. (Which I think, surely? Is an insult to God's perfect character, or attributes..)

But mightn't a resurrection to Judgment just as easily imply rising to a resurrection of discernment..?

Jesus, the exact representation of His person.." .."have the people sit down in groups of fifty or one hundred.."

"All will rise, some to a resurrection of life" (at Jesus' return, this we know) "and some to a resurrection of Judgment" (discernment? "decision") typified by doa? day of atonement? Israel's annual collective "day of Judgment and reconciliation"... Leviticus 16:29,30 - "....it is for you a day of reconciliation.. the 10th day of the 7th month.."
