Why Would God Create Billions to Burn?

And a special thanks to you EW for being a vessel of honor, when you spoke the words ""the opportunity to become participants in the restoration of all things." that was a spark that ignited the flame of personification.

It is because of what He does in us through the renewing of the mind .....

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. (John 17:5)

I honestly believe that simple question.... "Why" is one of the most powerful arguments for Biblical universalism. Why would God create such a horrifc scenario?... and is so....Why would anyone want to serve such a God?

Clearly it would only be fear or an inability to recognize the implications of such a dicotomy. A God who would conceive such a plan as this is deeply conflicted and twisted- narcissistic in the uttermost. Indifferent to the eternal torment of billions so that he can have his little hand-picked club of worshippers.

The Savior sent to die for that little club, would surely be depressed forever, knowing that altho He came to save, He failed miserably on a quantitative level. The idea that the enduring shame and horror of that failure and its consequences would not affect us as the "survivors of God's decimated creation"- because God would either 1) shield us from the awareness of it or b) cause us not to care about it- has a multitude of insidious logical conclusions tied to it- about the nature of God and what knowing Him creates in us.

YIKES!

A horrifying paradigm from a logical perspective, from a philosophical perspective and from a spritual perspective- and as far from reality as the flat earth theory is from the universe that really exists.

Eaglesway, to put it mildly, I love your post and I am just so glad that God chose for me to see the truth of universal salvation, by way of Jesus Christ and the cross. :-)  And the main way I see the truth of that, is by how God saved me. From 12 to 16 years old, I was a church member and had no doubt; but that I was a Christian. And I was taught in my local church, that we and those just like us, in teaching and belief, we made up the one true church of Jesus Christ. So, there I was taught by some people, to look down on others, who were not members of his one true church, as I was. So there I was, thinking I was a Christian, when in fact, I was merely a wet Baptist. (ha)  But then, at 16 years old, God let me know I was lost. God let me know, that I was not in a right relationship with God. Boy, did that ever shock me; but I knew it was true, because of Who was revealing such to me.  So God simply led me to a man, who read a portion of scripture to me and as he did, I knew God was also there and God who was holy. In this situation, God showed me my sinfullness. Ironically, it was selfrighteousness. (ha)  God showed me that, in myself and God, the goodness of God, brought me to repentance. And as the love of God poured out on me, God put a picture in my mind of three crosses and I knew on that center cross was Jesus Christ and he was there for me, taking all of my sins, upon himself. :-) That's how God saved me and in this, God gave me a love and caring for all people; but my home Calvinist church had taught me, that God had chosen for most people, to go to hell. :-(  So after God saved me, it was back home to that church, for another 10 years. And I am just so glad, that about 7 years ago, God showed me better. God showed and proved to me, that Jesus Christ is truly the Saviour and that of the whole world! :-)  Before this and when doing just everyday things like shopping, it hurt me to see people, from the very elderly to newborn babies. For I had been taught to believe by some people, that most of the ones I saw, would end up in a hell of eternal torment. :-(  I got that from some people; but not from God; but I was also taught to believe the lie, that what I got from some people, was the same as if God had directly told/taught me such. I am just so glad, that in time, God taught me better. :-)  Now I walk my little dog, down by an old cemetery and as I get there, many times I break out into singing this song. :-)  "When we all, get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all, see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory! :-)  Too, when I go shopping now, I smile a lot, as I see everyone from the very old, to new born babies. It's just such a blessing to know, that we are all going to the same place and will be spending eternity together! :-)   For God/Jesus Christ, has seen to that! :-)

Their own story / experience of salvation, etc. and the story of their own particular time and nation / culture.. Each and every one of those stories, individual and collective, magnifying and glorifying the Truth, that Yahweh is God Most High.. (AL-mighty, and very Life itself! And all blessing and every good thing!)
