I believe that Matthew 16:27 has been read erroneously by many people believing that they will receive rewards for their Christian activities.  A careful reading will show that EVERY man will be rewarded according to the Works of Christ, not according to their own works.  It is a Christ-based reward that we inherit, which is given to ALL, not a man-based reward system.

I agree ..... it is the works of Christ in us ..... that IS our reward

because I also believe this goes along with ..... to whom it is given more is required ..... this is not more of our works is required, but more of His works are required in us, for we are being perfected in Christ

it is our journey (process) of being perfected in the word

as well as growth in understanding of the fullness..measure in Christ.......from little children..to which He says...I have much more to tell you

but you are unable to bear them at present..to seeing eye to eye ,face to face and being just like Him

I am your sure reward.  He rewards us with 'talents of light"  increased growth spiritually.

..only Jesus has the authority to open the seals on His word....and open the scriptures unto us[I set before ye an open door that no-one can shut/

what I shut no-one can open][brotherly love/Philadelphia/Laodecia]... did not our hearts burn when He opened the scriptures unto us.

now..we may study the word/scripture to show ourselves approved of men...but man's approval and God's are two very different things.

Isaaih 29;10-14    and the vision of ALL is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed..which men deliver unto one that is

is learned and say 'Read this,I pray thee, and he saith 'I am not learned"  Wherefore the Lord saith,"  For as much as these people draw near

me withtheir mouth, and with their lips do honour me..but their heart is far off from me..and  THEIR FEAR TOWARD ME IS TAUGHT BY THE

  PRECEPT OF MEN.

Therefore Behold,I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and wonder;for the wisdom of their wise men

shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

We have been created in Christ Jesus for good works, prepared from the foundation of the world that we should walk in them.

We labor diligently to enter His rest, and if we have entered His rest we have ceased from our own works, and entered into those works that were finished before the foundation of the world.

"Cease striving and know that I am God"

"In repentance and rest is your deliverance, in quietness and trust is your strength."

But then it says,

"Work while it is yet day for the night comes when no man can work."

"And the Lord worked with them confirming the word with signs and wonders."

"But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."

A paradox indeed.

What a person hears when the hear the word reward makes all the difference. Having ears to ear makes a multitude of explanations unnecessary.

Paul said, "After all, who is our hope, our joy, our crown of boasting, if it is not you yourselves in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming?"

It is best that one never knows in this life, where the meeting point between my will and His will are, lest I should glory in anything, but there will be a reward for those who yield to God. The reward of intimate fellowship with Jesus and the Father is already given to those who yield. The new name, the white stone, the inheritance is theirs in the abundance of the Spirit and the joy of fellowship.

According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. 11For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. 14If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

All that will stand in the fire is the work that proceeds from love. "For love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God" What proceeds from the desire to appear spiritual or to have authority or to appease God is wood, hay and stubble.
The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood. http://www.hell-is-a-myth.webs.com/

Amen! ..though I know this is true.. (very much so, absolutely!) my mind tends to often think of it as only truth can remain standing, which, the (most) ultimate truth is Love.. for He IS love.. (which answers the question of what His will is). But also what bounces around in my head a lot with impact, is "truth". Truth stands, all else falls.

Also amen to all posts above.. :iagree: :iagree:

And like all agreed with "He is the reward.."

and .."according to the Works of Christ"  :Chinscratch: which includes an appreciation for all He accomplished.. namely all the human family of God safely delivered to God's shores.. (all them beautiful people)..? love for, and appreciation of, "given to all"
