What is the Universalist's view of war such as found in the book of Joshua?

I think there may be many views..(?) My own view is as with Hitler, you simply cannot let some things continue. The Canaanite nations Joshua fought against were burning children and babies alive to Molech whike beating drums to drown out the screams.
Like Winston Churchill said, if no fights evil. Evil wins.
     The world - blames - God. Also for the flood, when - every thought, thus action - was evil. It?s not merciful to let such living conditions continue. Plus self destruction was sure to occur and so early on.. Then where would we be?
    Next they know:
The Lord said - all those in the tombs (graves) will hear His voice and will come forth (from the graves/tombs) ..some in the resurrection of life, and some in the resurrection of judgment (Jn.5:28-29) - after the thousand years (Rev.20:5).
     And Matthew 25:46 - these will go away into aionian-AGELASTING kolasis-CORRECTION (translated, everlasting punishment) but the righteous into aionian life (the millennium).

Amen.. It?s not as an atheist may say, that God works evil (!) but engineered its coming about (and all taking this unavoidable journey/lesson all at once. God being Life itself - He IS that He is - tell them (Moses) I am that I am. ..And He - is perfect - Mt.5:48.

This makes imperfection the opposite of Life..

How does He create genuinely able to think and reason beings - and - keep paradise/perfection intact? I guess you include in the original garden of Life a visible option of imperfection/straying.. And let it run its course (interfering to cut short humanity destroying practices twice.. And built the remedy/redemption from the wage of missing the mark/hamartia, translated sin. (And there?s this, tho all suffer, He, being Life, suffers it all..

Amen! God is so infinitely wise, and how to create an enduring, unbreakable paradise (for all) unless He thoroughly convinces all what a bottomless pit imperfection is. History proves it. The abyss is in each one of us.. how low can the imperfect heart go? Given the right circumstances, etc, no limit. Not only does imperfect result in death (not being if God never intervened) but it can only ever be trouble (tribulation), ruin (apocalypse) and death, opposite of Life-so how futile to ever stray and go that way!
...And what a contrast Good is from evil.. Jesus said - If you being evil.. A contrast both individually and collectively. - The bear will graze with the cow, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. Is.11:7

Marie, through my studies on Jewish after life beliefs of 2,000 years ago i'm beginning to realize that Jewish people of Christ's time had a theology of 'olam ba ha' = life in the world to come....'they did not have our Western conception of 'eternal life'   
Olam Ha-Ba: The Afterlife.....Olam Ha-Ba: The World to Come
The spiritual afterlife is referred to in Hebrew as Olam Ha-Ba (oh-LAHM hah-BAH), the World to Come, although this term is also used to refer to the messianic age. So, i think Jesus was saying, 'these will go into the correction of the world to come...and these will go into the life of the world to come'....somehow i think this makes a little more sense than 'age- during' in this passage....either way 'aionios' does not mean eternal in this passage in Mt25:46

?but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage?
     So hitting the mark (bullseye) is to share and take part in THE age.

Yes the 'great reversal' is a very good idea lol!  Then each will have their rightful place in the Kingdom when the rough is made smooth.
