OK here is some radical spiritual thinking and by radical I hope I am talking God radical and not my own nasty stupid radical.

I see the whole Bible as Gods work to explain people in a mysterious way, a way only to be deciphered via the spirit.

The whole Bible is Someone explaining how each person functions and explains every detail of what a person is. This is why the Bible is so many faceted and so long and seemingly so complicated yet so sought after. People instinctively know this but it is so often covered by those who come to the Bible and then interpret it in a predominantly physical way. This way buries the truth even deeper.

I see myself in Genesis through Revelation. A quick summary is this:
Chaos and void represents me just before conception.
Before Adam and Eve represents me in my conception, pre born state of being.
Adam represents me in my childlike newborn condition.
God putting Adam into a deep sleep and Eve and the serpent rising to the forefront is my natural, mortal, corruptable state.
Getting kicked out of the garden and the whole old testament is my pilgrimage from life to death. From my perspective, sometimes with God, sometimes not.
Jesus coming on the scene is God waking me up from my deep sleep.
Jesus and whole new testament is my pilgrimage from death to life.

Simple, isn't it?

This view makes even the Book of Numbers exciting. Spiritually I know everything in Numbers is telling me something about me that makes me, well, me. The hunt begins. The buried treasure in the field is about to be dug up. Otherwise I don't really care about things like this...

And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first [day] of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,  2  Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of [their] names, every male by their polls;  3  From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.  4  And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.  5  And these [are] the names of the men that shall stand with you: of [the tribe of] Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.  6  Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.  7  Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.  8  Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.  9  Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.  10  Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.  11  Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.  12  Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.  13  Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.  14  Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel......

Now, later maybe I can show how even this passage of Scripture relates to who I am and who you are today as a real person. It is chalk full of meaning and will help in getting through all the adversities and frustrations of the now, today. If taken physical literal then God can have it and I will maybe read it once a year on some obnoxious 'trek through the Bible in a year' course. If taken physically literal it really is meaningless except to scholars of genealogies and the like and really has no meaning for the likes of everyday readers like me. If taken physically literal then most of the Bible is a waste to most people. It will always end up a Book to be inanely argued about and not a Book to give every single person life right this very second and forever.

It is good to feel like what the disciples felt when they said...... "Didn't we feel on fire as He (Jesus) conversed with us on the road, as He opened up the Scriptures for us?"lk24.32

God, for that feeling even when reading the Book of Numbers!

Hi Claypot,

I think I said something similar in another thread, can't remember where tho.  And yet Jesus said that everything that was written pertained to Him.  But I can certainly see your point and have seen that it seems to correlate to a person's individual development.

Plus I believe that most everything happened literally as the Bible said, the wars, the individuals, and most of those things were allegories that portrayed an aspect of Jesus, which were also mainly physical fulfillments on this earth. And the physical events are very interesting (well, maybe not numbers, lol).  And yes, what he did has great spiritual ramifications in the heavenly realm.  I do see spiritual meanings within many of the physical events, yet I'm not nearly as spiritually minded as many on this board.  I still cling to the hope that there will be an age in which all injustices will be compensated, people will turn to God, etc. etc.  I see that as a literal fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles.  I cling to the description and promise of God to those priests who remained faithful to God receiving two changes of clothing....linen for the time of service to God in the inner sactuary of the temple, and 'other garments' (wool perhaps?), when they minister to the people in the outer court.  I consider this to mean that we can change from one form to another, like Jesus did after his resurrection, so that we will still be in some manner physical.

They say the universe is still expanding.  I am counting on being able to explore this physical universe in a somewhat physical form (much superior of course to these shells we now wear).  Heck, I've seen very little of this puny planet.  I would love to see more of it.  Whether that will last for all of eternity, I have no idea, but for a few millenia after resurrection, that sounds good to me, lol.

Ok, my two cents worth for now.

SW, that was way cool. Sometimes I feel I just overstep myself with my imagination and all and you walked beside me. Thanks.

Also I hear ya and I think it would be a waste to not be able to swim in the oceans and climb the mountains and just explore every nook and cranny of this place we call home in the physical. I have often dreamed of hiking and the such and I hope to to be able to get hungry and even cold or hot or whatever but without fear and mosquitoes!!!!!

I think like this....I will ask God if for the first 1000 years or so of my new life I can do these things and then I'm sure I'll be ready to go off to all the mind blowing adventures He has for us. Sounds like we'll have a new earth but it kind of sounds like it will be close enough to do the things I'll never get to do now.

Hey, CP,  high five.  Sounds good to me, walked together, huh? Yeah, and I'll bet we're not the only ones. And,  hey, it's a big universe, maybe one of those planets can hold all the mosquitos and I'll pass on visiting that one.   :laughing7:
