Can anyone share where I can find a good commentary on the bible that explains scripture in favor of Universal Salvation? I am having a really difficult time understanding the flow of scripture when trying to interpret with a UR belief. I love information. The more in-depth the commentary, the better! Any suggestions? Preferably accessible via the internet.

Thanks again!

I've searched but IMO, the problem is what they call a niche market. You write a commentary that fits within the establishment and you have millions of potential purchasers. You write one for a very small slice 1-5%? of the previous potential market, and even it's the absolute best commentary ever written, it won't sell many copies. Then there's the matter of "paying for the education" so to speak. It takes years of study of the hebrew, the Greek, the idioms, how the language has changed since old and new testament act(ion)s. Then you also have to be very sure of the translation you are using to comment on, and a person with great credentials has already done a commentary from the eternal torture point of view. Anyway, with God, all things are possible. Like you, I would love to have access (hopefully free or nominal) to a good commentary from the UR world view. :Peace2:

Hi beartheweak
The link at The Everlasting Gospel thread, while not a commentary is powerful. At least to a newcomer like me it is.

So much interest in a US/UR bible commentary... I hope one or two or three of you who have diligently supported all things UR seriously consider putting together your notes, etc., including word studies, etc., etc.,  and begin writing a commentary.  It may seem like an impossible undertaking, but keep in mind, with God all things are possible.  I have seen in the past month, at least two things that I deemed absolutely impossible and yet (as Molly indicated on another thread) God answers prayers.  This impossible undertaking has been placed on my prayer list.

Here's a partial new testament commentary by a UR person:

Oh my, I could almost do the banana dance!!!  Seriously, Ded thank you so much for taking the time to find what I think may be just what I've been looking for... I plan to purchase both books by Jonathan Paul Mitchell...

I agree, I really wish the more-informed URers should get started on a commentary. As I read the bible, trying to keep UR things in mind, I run into a lot of difficulty. A lot of things jump out at me as obviously pointing toward a UR doctrine, but a lot of other things also jump out at me as obviously pointing toward an ET or Annihilationism doctrine. It's just hard for me to read the text naturally because UR, in a lot of places makes me read something as unextraordinary. It appears that a lot of scriptures, if ET weren't true, would have little significance and meaning to the point where the particular scriptures are so irrelevant that they should have just been left completely out of the bible. I'll elaborate what I mean on this, including scriptural reference, later on. I plan on starting with the NT and go verse by verse, writing down any verse that applies specifically to UR (whether the verse is difficult to apply to UR or whether the verse can be used to prove UR).

Beartheweak, I recall that the UR minister, James Bruggeman, said, the Bible appears to teach eternal torment, eternal destruction, and universal reconciliation.  Appearances aside, I think it all fits into a UR framework.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

...that actually makes sense as the potential is there.. every single one of us could be lost and perish in the 2nd death, but God intervened (as we know:) however, if after the 2 resurrections (all have experienced being resurrected) and all have witnessed what certainly must be a very long day of the examination of all things, all human history etc, if after all that, someone is still so stubborn and hard hearted as to "not believe"  i.e. be written in the Book of Life.. they would perish.. however the Word says "all" as we know, if HE be lifted up from the earth, will be drawn to Him.. etc, and etc.. But this (truth) drama still has those elements.. each one could perish (but won't because God is Perfect, and all-powerfuL).

He said that because if you pull certain verses out of context and use a king James you can have any of the three "proven"
