The Syro-Phoenician woman + UR & a ramble sorry

I was reading Mark chapter 7 where the Syro-Phoenician woman asks for healing for her daughter and Jesus, speaking truth said "it would not be good to take the children's food and throw it to the little dogs". (It being the time for Israel.. notice how when some Greeks camping looking for Him, He said 'my time is at hand')

But she said, "but even the little dogs under the table eat crumbs which fall from the master's table".

Jesus then said, "I tell you, I have not seen such great faith in all the house of Israel!"

Which I never quite got.. but today I noticed how she said "under the master's table".. She knew pets are part of the household.. And I'm thinking also UR, which was part of the Old Testament and likely understood in Israel's devout households, and so also by Gentiles which believed in the Hebrew God.

It may not have been understood by all, but I'm thinking very likely by many that Israel was to be filled with the light and that light would bring the Gentiles to Him.

Now of course, we know the "seed of Abraham" is one, is Jesus (Rev 12:1,2) and when the time of the Gentiles is filled up, Israel becomes the focus. (Ro 10? Mt 23:39; Rev 7:3-8) :offtopic: I'm sorry I'm straying.. but I'm on a roll and have to see it through.. :doh: maybe I'll delete this part.. There's believers on the net that are thinking of something on September 23 (2017) something to do with the constellations, they are seeing as a fulfillment of Rev 12:1,2 (birth of the manchild / which the dragon seeks to devour the child, which yes as a secondary understanding the dragon does want to devour all God's children)..

But this is so obviously Messiah - "a great sign in the heavens" - and the dragon did indeed try to devour him via Herod the Great.. this manchild (Son of man) who was caught up to God's throne (He.1:3; Col. 2:?) And, I have even read this in commentaries. :banana:

Rev. is not all in order, not strictly a one flow thing..

Anyway a lot of hype about the 23rd.. even in some quarters how believers will "ascend" to God's throne.. how that word "ascend" applied to humans repulses my spirit! I don't like it.. it was THE basic pagan teaching, or the most clever and ambitious..

Better, imho, to consider oneself one of the little dogs under the table..

We don't know all too much about this woman. Maybe she had trouble with Israel before and didn't like the country and Jesus sort of rebuked her for that. But her response was humble so he took her in again. After all he couldn't go evangelizing the Gentiles yet. In a way we sometimes overemphasize the Gospel man Jesus when we now have an omnipresent life giving Spirit Jesus.  The Gospel man Jesus was more limited. He couldn't follow all of his loving desires and if he wasn't careful everyone would flock to him and he couldn't undergo his cross sacrifice.

In a commentary by William Barkley I read that the Jews back then sometimes had little dogs with them which they loved a lot. They didn't look down on them at all. They were like part of the family.
