Now the lie that most religions want you to believe is that this whole story is about a man Peter, but it has nothing to do with Peter, The WHOLE reason for these 2 verses is to show mankind that "NOW" God deals with Mankind in person and not through the old system, ( a organization with a high priest) as its head, Jewish system.

34 As you were watching, a stone broke off without a hand touching it, struck the statue on its feet of iron and fired clay, and crushed them.

35 Then the iron, the fired clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were shattered and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

  I think Peters images / ideas were    struck and shattered   when God  showed Him Jesus The Christ ....
