God's purpose "He wills that all would be saved" - who can thwart His will? The promises are all received through faith, through our belief in Jesus.. There's only one verse (I know of) in the entire Bible which could be seen to imply one can only come to faith in this life only, before one's death, and that's when Jesus told the pharisees unless they repented, they would "die in their sins" - which of course means they would be resurrected still "in their sins" / imperfections and mortality. I don't believe in a gap theory when it comes to creation/origins, but I do believe in an unseen space of time between the 2nd resurrection with its Great White Throne Judgment, and the end of it when is said "those not" believing "not written in the Book of Life will go to the 2nd death which is the Lake of Fire." You see, that verse is the very last verse of the chapter, even following "and death and 'hell' were cast into the LOF". (Don't forget the last enemy vanquished, is death! No more enemies/opposers.)

From Romans 5:14-20
"...death reigned from Adam until Moses.. ..But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the-many died, MUCH MORE, did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the-many... ..For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, MUCH MORE those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. So then, as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, EVEN SO through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. For as through the one man's disobedience the-many were made sinners, EVEN SO through the obedience of the One the-many will be made righteous.

Day of Judgment (DOJ) gap theory ='s DOA (dead on arrival) becomes UR, after all, after having been resurrected out of their dusty grave, who the heck's not going to "believe" especially after, what surely will be a lengthy 'day' of the examination of all things (DOJ) all human history and every life, as to what went wrong, etc, a day of intense and lengthy review if you will. Won't God our Father in His wisdom and shining Goodness be able to prove His point? To all? And any totally stubborn hold outs who hate Him that much as to choose not to believe, would go to the (aion/age during) LOF for purification.
