Why does my heart lead to univeralism?

Well, I have been here for several months. When I joined, firstly I considered this as a heresy. Or I just thought that "universalists are a bunch of people who doesn't obey the word of god or trying to make excuse for their sin".
Now when I know this is not true and when I read a lot of the articles in tentmaker I was surprised that my heart is going-> that way. Yet I don't believe that that all will be saved, but I do believe that there will be a lot of people who will be saved and there is no literal hell with everlasting literal fire, but "the lake of fire" is a state of mind.
So is universalism the natural direction of the heart?

 :cloud9: Hi; It's the natural direction the Spirit of your heart wants to go. I didn't read anything about UR; still haven't. But the Spirit showed me it was true one day, much to my surprise......I don't think it's hit me with the impact that it has in some others, probably because I wasn't raised in church so nothing was entrenched to begin with. To me it's a revelation from God no less than, and no more than any other, as all are precious to me as time spent in His presence. I never want to leave it! Well, I had the same experience as Card in that I didn't know what it was called until I came to Tent . . .but the message essentially is still the same in that the power of Truth and love really is just that strong that it brought/brings all mankind into relationship with God himself and it's that "likeness" of his nature hidden in everyone of us that calls out to our own nature within us that we find ourselves being led down a path where religion can not contain it and the religious can not explain it, but those who are receptive to the sound find themselves in a place where they can't restrain it.  Let Freedom ring!!

I rejected God after reading the Bible and concluding if more people were going to hell than he was able to save then the devil was obviously stronger. If Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost, then a maximum of 10% saved was pitiful. It seemed man had a greater will than God. I believed God was love but how could he torture for all eternity a finite number of sins when even a hateful person like myself would never do that?
Anyway, UR has answered my questions. Thank God. Praise God.

I realized that after being grilled over and over for years ad-nauseum that God is all knowing, all loving, peaceful, and caring, that he's going to save the millions of people out there sacrificing their lives and money for the good of humanity, without ever saying the magical words to be saved.  That this is our God of fairness, and this fairness extends after death, not intending for 3/4 of his children to suffer in eternal torment because they didn't say the right thing, or, even better yet, get whipped up in church and have an emotional experience.  Does the emotional experience cause us to go out and fight for social justice, serve the poor, see what needs to be done not just for the rich, but for all?  Does the emotional experience keep us from beating our co-workers and neighbors over the heads with our bibles?  Does it prevent us from stalling traffic with hideous posters, or, screaming at people in front of abortion clinics, like that's going to make them as GOOD as us?  NO.  God's grace is there for all.  Luke 3:6  All mankind will see God's salvation.  Just the tip of the biblical iceberg that I found.
