i've been reading L.Ray Smiths' lake of fire papers and he mentioned Rev22:17 and it sparked of a thought that has been banging around in my mind, here is the thought:

John 4: 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

I have asked ones that believe in et if i was correct in thinking that what Jesus was using an analogy, and the meaning is that once one accepts Christ and follows Him, one never thirst for the word again, they usually answer yes, then i show them these verses:

Rev 21:  5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Rev 22:  17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Then i ask them in reguards specifically to Rev 22-17, this is after all the  tribulations and the other things that happened (we are almost at the end of the writing here), who is the invitation being given to if the ones that has already "drank" the  water of life they are no longer thirsty,

they say they will get back to me..............:)

New Jerusalem is on earth already.
The saints inside obviously need no healing or learn about Jesus.
So it can only be the dogs, thiefs, murderers, etc living outside the city coming inside.
Not individuals but kings leading their armies. ==> Whole nations
The fun part is this event takes place after the in the ET mind final judgements.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

:goodpost: hi! You and I are thinking a little bit alike.. I get what you are saying and I really think you're onto something! My thought for a long while now, has been that the words "those not written in the book of life will go to the 2nd death" are not said, or heard, until after two things [1] the 2nd resurrection which as we know is of all those not knowing/believing which means by this time all have experienced being resurrected and [2] all have lived through and witnessed what has surely been a very long day of the examination and judging of all things, all human history, etc

and surely those words "names not in the book of life" mean "those not believing" because isn't that the requirement to be in the book of life?

But by then, who's not going to believe? Isn't there really only one verse which could suggest one MUST believe before their death? when Jesus told the pharisees unless they repent they would "die in their sins". But I am thinking the 1st resurrection would still far surpass the 2nd (for a while anyway). In the 1st "immortality is put on" but in the 2nd they are raised "still in their sin"...

I think the long 2nd advent of Jesus is just given as a sort of bare outline..
It's common to think Israel's spring holy days were fulfilled by Jesus' 1st advent, so why not his 2nd advent by the fall holy days?? beginning with Trumpets(his return) and ending with Tabernacles(when the New Jerusalem, God Himself and God's throne "come down to Earth" and God will tabernacle with man upon Earth "made new"). That leaves the middle holy day, the Day of Atonement, to prophecy the middle peak of Christ's long 2nd advent, Judgment Day, which I believe will turn out to "surprise!!!" A great day of Atonement for all those of the 2nd resurrection..

Book of Life (BoL) has be discussed elsewhere. It was one of those few topics allmost all agreed upon; Jesus is that book. Or at the very least is extremely close connected to it.

There was a 'tradition' of being blotted out Salathiel who burned parst of the Torah was blotted out too. Jesus was blotted out too.
It simply meant those persons were not allowed to be mentioned (in writing) for the next 30 years.

There's another one of those "divine ironies" Sheila brought up. They thought being blotted out was a curse, but to not write about someone for what is essentially a generation or that grown person's lifetime, just means that "they" have ceased to exist, because HE is now written about in their heart/book. Thirty was the age of maturity. He's so funny.....lol

Jesus is that book.

so we're in agreement as Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the Life" and those whose names are not therein go to the 2nd death the Lake of Fire (lof) - those not believing..

I think so yes, but there is a bit more complexity.
There is a singular book AND plural books
http://tentmaker.org/forum/discussions-on-universal-salvation/is-this-god's-plan/msg136055/#msg136055

Saints are resurrected first. 1000 year later sheeps and goats are resurrected.
The goats are not in the book of life. My bet is the saints are in BoL even if it's not mentioned
The sheep must believe in Jesus (I'm the only way) Are those sheep only the not so saintly Christians.
I think goats=grape harvest=judgement of nations=the king and his armies entering Nw Jerusalem for a drink and leaves from the healing tree.
But even the greatest saints (including Jesus) were/are part of a nation.
