Let Go -- and Know

Ps 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

The words "be still" come from the Hebrew word "raphah," literally mean, LET GO.  "Let go, and know that I am God."  We try to be still, we try to calm ourselves down and relax into a  consciousness, an awareness of Christ, but as long as we are clinging  to the problems of the day, hanging on to the thoughts of the agitations, turmoils, frustration of the day, so that one's mind is in a whirl, regardless of how quiet your body, might be on the chair, you are not really STILL after all.  Physically you might cease motion, but if you retain an agitated spirit and a troubled mind, you are far from still.  So there ensues a process of "letting go," and then you can KNOW that He is God, that the Lord of hosts is with you, and that He is being exalted in the earth.

Judges 19:9  The day draweth (letteth go) toward evening"  The activity of the day has been full, but there comes a time of letting go, and the closer toward evening one gets, the more they have to relinquish the day, let go of the time period that is ending.

Jesus said, "the night cometh, when no man can work." (John 9:4)  Man's day is rapidly ending, and a new day, THE LORD'S DAY draws near.  Therefore, all of the activities and programs of man must also end.  There is a whole time period which must be released if we are to enter into the new.  We cannot carry the old over into the new.  There are many time periods which we have reveled in, which were a blessing to us, but now if we are to go on into spiritual maturity, to be brought into the "measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ," (Eph 4:13), we are going to have to let go of those former days.  "Remember not the former things, either consider the things of old.  Behold I will do a new thing."  (Isa. 43:18-19_

Let go the things of yesteryear,
And days which end with memories dear,
A new day yet shall dawn for thee,
All limitations be set free.

"Let go"  I love that.

So hard to do and absolutely right.

[I tend to be 'out of my cold, dead hands' personality type lol]

But when I 'let go' I get to really see what He can do.

This "cease" in Hebrew is also a word used to describe what happens when straw is thrown into an oven.  It burns so quickly it suddenly shrinks, it immediately reduces, it "falls back."
