Knowledge and the Spirit

Only righteousness can satisfy. That is the law of the Kingdom. Should you be given power without righteousness, it would not satisfy. Would not it have been surprising, for instance, if Jesus had said, "Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst after knowledge." How great a thing is knowledge! "Knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven," said Shakespeare. There is not much danger these days of underrating knowledge. The pursuit of truth, the unveiling of nature's secrets, the development of technology, the exploration of the universe is mind-boggling. Alexander the Great so valued learning that he used to say that he was more indebted to Aristotle for giving him knowledge than to Philip his father for giving him life.


".... When such a life hungers and thirsts for knowledge then it becomes power. If we desire the knowledge of God and the knowledge of His Kingdom only for the sake of knowledge, then we will never be conformed into God's image, we will never attain unto incorruptible life, nor will we ever rule in the Kingdom of God. Head-knowledge of Kingdom truths is only so many sticks and pieces of coal. There is no power. Nothing will ever be accomplished. I meet people continually who can mouth all the right phrases and are able to speak Kingdom terminology, they know all the doctrines inside-out, but it has never burned in their lives, it has never been translated into power in their experience. But even when the power of the Kingdom begins to operate within, we are not satisfied. There is yet a void, a lack, something is missing, we are still hungry and thirsty. ONLY RIGHTEOUSNESS CAN SATISFY! I would not be mistaken in saying that you will be far more blessed, dear friend, more satisfied, more filled by possessing righteousness without power than in having power without righteousness. That is the law of the Kingdom of God.

A few thoughts on knowledge and the Spirit.

God said he would confound the wise.

Paul said he didn't come with fancy speech, but with power.

Jesus said seek first the kingdom and all these things will be added.

Is there a Proverbs that says "knowledge puffs up, but....?"

Scripture says in the last days men would run to and fro, and knowledge would abound.  Isn't that what's happening?  Is this some level of "last days"?

Jesus said we should worship Him in spirit AND truth.  He said we now know Him AFTER THE SPIRIT!

I personally want knowledge.  I want to understand things, I want to know what the original scriptures said, and what they mean.  (or do I want them to mean what I want them to mean?)  I think it's important to know about translations, what word meanings are, and having learned some of that has, I believe, helped me in my walk.  I want wisdom.  However, I think I also know that there are things even more important than that - it's truly knowing Him - abiding in Him;  "walking humbly before our God".    Some call it relationship.  Jesus described it as taking His yoke upon us, learning of (knowing?) Him - because He is "meek and lowly" and HIS BURDEN is light!  LIGHT!

We all have knowledge.  Some much, some little, many of us in-between.  Some have mostly head knowledge, some perhaps ONLY head knowledge;  information.  Would we seek and know Him as Lord, Savior, Friend  -  Friend that sticks closer than a brother. 

Unless we come to Him as little children...

From what I've read about the scholars that have dedicated their entire lives to translating and interpreting the bible, learning the greek and hebrew, about 80-90% are supposed to be UR.
My mentor had a doctorate in Old testament Hebrew and he was a  Southern baptist missionary pastor and UR.

I know I've read that Knoch did not believe in UR when he began his CLV but something happened along the way.
