everyone,

Why do you think they are so many denominations? So many Christian Sects? Different theologies? And on and on and on..because man lifts up verses in the bible...takes them out of context...and makes doctrine out of them.. We have the same word of God...yet we can't agree on what it says. Man has made a mess of God's word by humanizing scripture with his flesh. In these last days..God is going to unite his divided body of Christ..to bring his will on earth as it is in heaven. God is going to clean up all this bickering and division the devil has caused.

If that did not exist, and everyone agreed on everything, how boring would that be? Then these message boards would go defunct.  :laughing7: But seriously, I think it speaks of the wisdom of God for such things to exist, as frustrating as it is to us at times. If I understand you correctly, you make a very good insightful point about how people use the scriptures today. That too, speaks to me of God's wisdom in how he operates.

God confused the languages and divided the land (evidenced by continental drift) at the tower of Babel.  Division to religious institutions helps keep such from becoming a juggernaught that tramples down everyone and everything.  Consider what happened when the Roman Catholic system was esteemed to be THE Church and possessed secular power, working with the subjection of the civil authorities.  It became proof of heresy to have even parts of the Bible in our own languages.  They tortured and burned at the stake those seeking to follow Jesus and to keep His word.  Even religious impulses interpreted as materialism or social Darwinism, should they gain power in the civil sphere result in great persecutions of so many, specially believers, as the 20th Century revealed.

We are to be, "Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace..."  (Eph 4:3) "...Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ..." (vs.13) To come into that image there are servants whose functions are such things as apostles and prophets; in fact, every part of the body contributing is how the we are brought to the complete image and likeness.  It is by, "...speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:  From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." (vs.15-16)

Prov 25:2  It is the GLORY of GOD to CONCEAL a thing... but the HONOR OF KINGS to search out a matter...

Most "Christians", such as -- yourself, have failed to comply with this verse...  :sigh:

Actually, lee100 we don't have the same word of God. Your Bible says God is going to fry people for eternity. My Bible says they will receive eonian chastening which is the chastening pertaining to the eon (1000 years).

Also there are different denominations because Paul the apostle prophesied that "there must indeed be sects among you."

There are sects among us because everyone is at different levels of maturity also.
Just because God says He will save all mankind
does not necessarily mean He won't.

tony,

First, We do have the same bible. Your just has universalist bias translators.

Second, Paul prophesied unity in Ephesians 4:4 One body, One Spirit, One Lord, One Faith, One baptism. Paul preached unity in the church..not division and having sects. Sects are false forms of Christianity..JW's. Mormons, Christian Science.etc...

ron,

Romans 15:5 and 6:
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:2 Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose".

Quite different from tony's liberal view.

Lee100,

The translations are different. True.
But how can you so simply conclude that every Bible that doesn't (completly) share you your view is biased?
Why can't your Bible be biased? Or translated wrong because of unsufficient manuscripts (see other thread)
Perhaps all Bibles are biased. Perhaps 50%.
May I ask what your favorite Bible is? The one you think is unbiased?

One has to start somewhere and pick a Bible translation that looks good. But only by searching for contradictions etc, one can prove for him/herself the Bible is translated correctly.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

ww,

Analytical-Literal Translation of the New Testament. IMO simply the best out there.

gregoryfl

I have used his translation. My favorite scriptures can be found here:

I don't know the translation but I never seen you you quoting from it.
I've seen quite a few (extremely) literal translations but none of then has eternal/forever in them.
Always something like age, age-during, age-abiding

The second most literal translation I know of:

ww,

who are the translators of this bible?

WhiteWings

I have no idea Lee100.
Only names of foundations are mentioned in the info.

They are the work of 2 men who wish to remain anonymous.

I know they use CLV as one of the 4 translations (CLV, KJV, YLT, SVV) in more readble langage.
But its the real interlinear part CLV?
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

wow.  Is this 'one mouth' the mouth of God ['ĕlôhîym] ?

[one] "mouth"

G4750
στόμα
stoma
stom'-a
Probably stregthened from a presumed derivative of the base of G5114; the mouth (as if a gash in the face); by implication language (and its relations); figuratively an opening (in the earth); specifically the front or edge (of a weapon): - edge, face, mouth.
