I'm sure nobody is offended..it's all just chatting/ discussing..everybody has a view on things
"I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance".Isaiah 45:23

Jesus always judged with words. For example, he said, "I have much to talk and to judge in Israel.", but his judgments were always with words, not with punitive actions. He also said that he wouldn't judge anybody for rejecting him, and that he would talk again on Judgment day to judge with "the words that I talk" (not, as it is often given, "the word I have spoken").

Furthermore, an eternal punishment can also consist in a judgment that "persists". It could simply be about being considered guilty of evil. Imagine you go to Heaven and want to live there and Christ in the Judgment labels you as an evil person. Just that alone, when God who is love tells you that you are an evil person, is an eternal punishment considering who God is.

The issue is, an eternal punishment to live in flames and being burned and tormented in hell is against all ethical concerns. A God who claims to be love cannot consign anyone to such a punishment. That just does not fit together. And for that we have the Cross where the God who is love proves his sacrificial nature. Remember that it was not just a sheep that got sacrificed. Instead God sacrificed himself. And that in order to deliver the whole of mankind. If God wouldn't then cash in his reward by saving all into heaven, would be very illogical. Why then not simply keeping Israel and the way of the law? Why revealing Jesus to us if it were not for our all salvation? We've all been made by God. Why would God not take up this responsibility if He is both loving and able. Also consider the fruits of the Spirit according to Paul. If that is holiness then we have an image of God's holiness. He is always kind, patient, longsuffering, meek, peaceful, joyous, sympathetic.

I don't believe that there is a necessary tension between spoken words and punitive action. For example, Jesus says that there will be many that appeal to miracles done in his name, and he will say "I never knew you, away from me, ye who work iniquity." I consider that a judgment with words and a resulting punitive action, if one that leads to repentance.

I'm not sure why Christ would label people who have entered "heaven" as evil people. It's my belief that every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess and that involves repentance. Once repentance comes, God does not consider that person evil, because those sins will be blotted out.

Agreed with all the above. Logic really breaks down the more one allows him/herself to think about eternal torment.

didn't Jesus refer to his audience as 'evil', in the Sermon on the Mount ?..yet, He still saw them as children of the Father

yes, I cant see Jesus wanting to live forever with people He regards as 'evil'...in a sense we are all 'evil' compared to God...didn't Jesus say to forgive our enemies ?..didn't Jesus , who is God , forgive His enemies from the cross ? (He prayed to the father for the ones who murdered Him )..if Jesus unilaterally forgave them, surely He'll forgive the rest..yet, looks like He'll say to some 'depart from me'...still, Jesus DID NOT say 'depart from me FOREVER...that fact alone opens the door to their ultimate reconciliation to Him. :dsunny:

"What then is age-during life?"

I noticed this title.. having just read again yesterday how Jesus gives us (believers) age-lasting/during life.. but I was struck this time with the idea of He has given us life.. called age-lasting because (? and this is of course merely speculation) ..because in the consummation on that Great Day (the 'real' Tabernacles! rev 21:1-3) will include all, including all who "first believed" (so all that's needed right now is the age-lasting life)
idk :dontknow: it made sense when I thought it.. :laughing7:
