The salvation of Jesus

It seems to me that Jesus had to get saved just the same as any other person, because He was cut off by accepting our sins on Himself. However, scripture records His salvation from sin (albeit our sins) AFTER his death.

Jesus, as the Passover Lamb, took all the sins of the world on himself. (I John 2:2)

I believe that when Jesus cried out "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" it was because He felt cut off from Father. In a moment, God smote His own son just as He in turn had required of Abram. (Is 53:4; Ps 30:5) Jesus died "separated" from the Kingdom of God. He went to the same place as those children of Adam from before the flood; those who received their own wages for being separated from God. (1 Pt 3:18-20)

Jesus truly did die the death of a sinner, just the same as untold billions of other humans. So, in fact it wasn't until AFTER death on the cross, that God saved His Son from that death. Since Jesus is the pattern son, what Father did for Jesus, He will also do for every person ever born. Death is no limitation to the love of God (Rom.8:38-39); those who didn't come into a life giving relationship with Jesus in this valley of shadows, will still have their appointment with death broken in the ages to come.

That's very interesting Dan. I see what you are saying. I thought something similar a while back. Kind of like saying if the wages of sin is eternal torment then Jesus would have to be in torments forever.

Now, if you know me at all I have to look at this from an angle different from the physical. What's being said here about people, you and I?

I see Jesus, while being very literal physical, still I see Him as also representing fully the divine and the flesh. I see Him as God's picture of us when God is done with His image making work.

I am a mortal and corruptable being, God is immortal and incorruptable. Jesus is both. The Good News is, God wins.

Life does come only after death, I agree.

Isaiah 53  is one place that comes to mind

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.


Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb so he openeth not his mouth.


Isa 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people was he stricken.


Isa 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death because he had done no violence neither [was any] deceit in his mouth.
