Excellent post, Cardinal.  Goes along with what I been looking into.  Jesus was
"drinking" the BLOOD LIFE of the New Covenant "before the cross" and said
to them, that He would NOT drink it with them "again" TIL He drank it ANEW
in the Kingdom.  The passion He went thru seems to be an interupption as
far as He is concerned.  Your words confirm what I have been hearing. There
are two.  David foresaw "the LORD" ........God wanted PETER to "foresee" that
Second Man when his Spirit man went before him, and God then gave him some
corrective visions making his flesh catch up. ha  The Spirit always goes "before"
us, and as we have borne the image of the first adam, so shall we bear the IMAGE
of the Second.  David was dead and buried, so who did he see?

Quote from: CardinalWho do MEN say that I am? And to Peter only, who answered correctly, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God", He said, "Blessed art thou Peter, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father which is in heaven." The revelation was not that the flesh and blood standing there was the son of God. Flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of heaven, and what descended is the same as what ascended.

I Like that analogy, Amen

I know I'm adding to this thread at a late date (I just discovered this site) but I really felt that many missed the obvious here.

I do agree with most of the responses but I just have one thought to throw out there.... the Trinity!  God IS the Father AND the Son.  Of course He also indwells us as the Holy Spirit.  But why do we need to keep such a separation in our thoughts or prayers between God and Christ?  God sent His son as a human man so we could get to know Him as the Father through the son.  Perhaps I'm oversimplifying, but sometimes the need to put things under a microscope can often draw us away from the faith that we're so desperately seeking.  Just my humble opinion.  I did enjoy reading the dialog though.

Hi RoseofSharon,
a very warm welcome. I can only agree. But the sad thing is that traditional teaching has very often corrupted how we see Father, Son and Spirit. I was taught in the past for example-during my time in pentecostalism- that Father is the Just One (in their view that meant unforgiving) and the Son is the Loving One (which they interpreted to mean nice).

On this they founded the horrible teaching that Jesus died to appease the Divine wrath. So many believers actually never could relate to our Abba Father before the Holy Spirit opened their eyes to His Loving Heart-and many are still out there who still can't see Him as He truly is.

The thing is if we stop with knowing Jesus or experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit we fall short of the climax of New Testament Revelation-Jesus came to lead us to our Heavenly Father. He is the Way to Him, the Truth about Him, and the Life of Him, but the goal is Abba.

For those who have had the 'Abba Experience' (as Brennan Manning calls it) there is a huge paradigm shift in their faith, I've seen it happen again and again. However, I do agree it can be very harmful to get to technical. And not everybody here believes in the 'Trinity' (personaly I don't like the term, but still hold to the concept of 'Perichoresis') as you soon will find out.

This is also because we all in different stages of our walk. Some of us here have grown up with quite traditional views and others have never seen a church from the inside. But we are all looking for the truth in Christ, and I am sure you will find here some interesting discussions going on that will also challenge you and many of your beliefs. But it is all worth it, I promise. So again, welcome and enjoy.

Thanks Floyd.

I now understand better what was meant in the previous posts.  I guess I've always viewed Christ and His whole purpose for being, as a way to know our Abba Father.  To view Jesus as the "end all and be all" would be to miss the whole point of God sending Him here in human form in the first place.  I've never really understood Christ's death to appease God's divine wrath, thankfully.

Could you give me more info on "Perichoresis"?  I've never heard that term before.  Also, if you could send me a reference or existing thread on the Trinity here, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again for the welcome!   :icon_flower:

Hi RoseofSharon,
the first thing I want to say is that to me personaly it doesn't really matter that much if someone correctly divides the Deity, but it is more important to know the Father's Heart, (As Charles Slagle, one of my favourite authors is fond of saying).

Personaly I have my reasons of course why I view Father, Son and Spirit the way I do, and I guess we all have our individual reasons for our individual views. Having said that, let me explaing 'Perichoresis', which is also just a model of how to view Deity. Or better yet, here is a link to good explanation:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perichoresis

I think the longest debate we had on the 'Trinity' thus far would be found here:

But be warned it got a bit heated at times. Nevertheless we all still love each other as you can see. No one gets burned here as a heretic for asking questions or holding to certain views.

I hope I could help you.
