Study of 1 Corinthians 15:22

"in Adam all die, but in Christ all shall be made alive."

However, some translations say something like "we all die because we all belong to Adam, but everyone who belongs to Christ will be made alive."  Does the original Greek here make it clear that the "all" who die in Adam is the same "all" that will be made alive through Christ?

I saw our member that goes by the name of "Icor15:22", and looked it up (should have known it, LOL).  I came across this translation of this verse, then found this thread so thought I'd post;

"Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life."  New Living Translation.   

The Greek Interlinear says "thus in the the Anointed *all shall-be-being-made-to-live

*all (pante);    Thayers defines as "everywhere, wholly, in all respects, in every way" !!!

Strong's, "wholly:-always"  !!

Hiya! I hear you all are talking about me... oh I see it is just a coincidence. Ah well. :-)

I love this verse as it is so plain (in my opinion) concerning UR. The English Majority Text Version has:
"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all will be made alive."

Rotherham's has:
"For, just as, in the Adam, all die, so, also, in the Christ, shall all be made alive."

And MANY other decent versions have almost the exact same reading.

I have had some tell me based on bad translations that only those who accept Christ are the "all" in the second part of the verse. But the way I understand which (again in my opinion) is the plain reading and with the Rotherham's Literal, I just see no way to reach that same conclusion. However I shall paraphrase what I understand the verse to mean:

"Just as all people died because of Adam, all people shall be made alive because of Christ."

Now yes I inserted the word "people" which could make the understanding biased... but based on the fact that because all people did inherit death through Adam... I can't think of an exception... the next mention of all gives NO indication that it is referring to a different "all". Hence my interpretation is valid.

I admit, I am no Greek scholar as the only languages I speak are English and a tiny bit of Klingon ;-) but this is the conclusion I easily come to and use it often to begin to explain UR to people through the bible.

I won't go so far as to say it is the most powerful one-line part of scripture (even considering context) showing UR, but it is up there in the top 5. It is my all-time favorite.
