John the Baptist said that Christ will baptize people with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Hi fullarmour2, to me  the same fire that metals are tried by the Touchstone [Jesus Christ]   Jesus is described as His eyes  are  a flame Fire  by Daniel and John the revelator   Glowing /Light /Fire purity  :HeartThrob:

Romans 12:19-21   19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.  20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.  21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

QuoteA proverbial expression signifying to call up, by favours you confer on your enemy, the memory in him of the wrong he has done you (which shall pain him as if live coals were heaped on his head), that he may the more readily repent. The Arabians call things that cause very acute mental pain "burning coals of the heart" and "fire of the liver".

1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

that is very interesting  WhiteWings!!

look at Pauls   words here  hummmm........was Alexander the coppersmith the Lion ?   I find it  ironic that Paul speaks of being strengthened by the Lord  after looking up lion  :mshock:
Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

2Ti 4:15 Of whom be you [ ware /OBSERVE ,guard ,watch]   also; for he has  greatly withstood our words.

2Ti 4:16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all [men] forsook me: [I pray God] that it may not be laid to their charge.

2Ti 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and [that] all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

leon
1) a lion

2) a brave and mighty hero

Both Christ and Satan are referred to as a lion, indicating great strength, Satan as a "roaring lion" (1Pe 5:8) and Christ as "the Lion of the tribe of Judah" (Rev 5:5).

Do you think Paul  prayed for  this enemy ?
hot coals of fire on the head

this may be unrelated or very much connected , it depends on how you view this .........but it has to do with the tongue   and fire  together

and Paul being a servant of the Lord .

Isa 54:16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment you shall condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 6:6  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

Coals seem very often to have a positive meaning.
I wonder if those coals are burning brimstone....

QuoteWhen, then, we read (Psl. 18:12) that "coals of fire" go before God, we think of the deeds of love which are "coals of fire" to our enemies. (Rom. 12:20) Thus, we who teach hope for all men, do not shrink from but accept, in their fullest meaning, these mysterious "fires" of gehenna, of which Christ speaks (kindled for purification), as in a special sense the sinner's doom in the coming ages. But taught by the clearest statements of Scripture (confirmed as they are by many analogies of Nature), we see in these "fires" not a denial of, but a mode of fulfilling, the promise--

God is a consuming fire.  For me, the baptism of fire is a much more troublesome experience than the baptism of spirit.  As the fire burns and yes, purifies, it is purifying the things my flesh likes but is not healthy for me to mature in spiritual things.  And as such, the experience is not nearly as pleasant.  There are references also to the tongue being a fire starter . . .and there were "tongues" of flame hovering over the heads of the 120 in the upper room.  Words bring life and death.  Words originate in the mind.  These cloven tongues, for me, refer to a clean animal sacrifice.  The fire purges the mind for the river of life to come forth.

Piling coals on one's head . . .another example of purifying the mind of even your enemy.  When Ezekiel saw the vision of the defiled priest, the thing that purified him was not a bath . .a water baptism . .it wasn't even a sacrifice . .it was the coal being applied to his lips . . .his tongue was transformed through the purging of the coals from the altar . .what altar?  It was from the altar of incense . . .it's the key to entering into the kingdom . . .worship . .the mind releases life through the lips once both have been refined by the fire of Light.

Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

Tis True, a WHOLESOME tongue is a"TREE OF LIFE"""

  good stuff being said

Taff and Nate and WW ......

altar of incense is also the mixture  with prayers of the saints/WITNESSES  clouds   , the smoke can be a  positive or even negative effect ..   depending on the holy prayers or the  profane  prayers

the smoke rising up into Gods nostrils ..

a positive     to avenge   David ..In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, [even] into his ears.

Psa 18:7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

Psa 18:8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

Psa 18:9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness [was] under his feet.

Psa 18:10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
GOD  IS A CONSUMING FIRE .. simple and yet very profound

the negative   causing  Gods wrath/anger
Isa 65:5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These [are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

That sounds like volcanic activity. Smoke, earthquake and fire that includes sulpher/brimstone.

OOOOOORRRR
The volcanic activity indicates God's wrath on the earth.

Romans 1:20 God uses the natural things to reveal spirtual truth.  The fire within us can get so close to the surface of our nature that it will erupt and bury and burn every earthy thing in it's path of our lives.

Wonder what part of my nature "old faithful" falls in???
