What does it mean "to pray in Jesus' name"?

I think it means that our standing to pray at all is "in the name of" Jesus. It is His righteousness, into which we have been raised in new life completely by grace- adopted as children into the household of the Father because we are "accepted in the beloved". I go before the Father not, "in my own name"(by my own merits) but "in his" who redeemed me.
