Were Martin Luther and John Calvin,.... essentially Fehr's unto Hitler?

Martin Luther and Judaism
However, after his overtures to Jews failed to convince Jewish people to adopt Christianity, he began preaching that the Jews were set in evil, anti-Christian ways, and needed to be expelled from German politics. In his On the Jews and Their Lies, he repeatedly quotes the words of Jesus in Matthew 12:34, where Jesus called them "a brood of vipers and children of the devil"

Luther was zealous toward the Gospel, and he wanted to protect the people of his homeland from the Jews who he believed would be harmful influences since they did not recognize Jesus as their Saviour. In Luther's time, parents had a right and a duty to direct their children's marriage choices in respect to matters of faith. Likewise, Luther felt a duty to direct his German people to cling to the Jesus the Jews did not accept. It should be noted that church law was superior to civil law in Luther's day and that law said the penalty of blasphemy was death.  Luther called for the deaths of certain Jews....

John Calvin
"Their [the Jews] rotten and unbending stiffneckedness deserves that they be oppressed unendingly and without measure or end and that they die in their misery without the pity of anyone."

John Calvin and Martin Luther both had the Jews pegged as the sons of Satan.
Both Calvin & Luther, indeed most Protestants were stoutly Anti-Jewish!

It is true that Martin Luther did not understand the Christian Identity Truths that we are blessed to have understanding of in today's True Christian Church, none the less he did know the Jews were evil and wicked Anti-Christs and not to be trusted or allowed to settle comfortably in any Christian Nation.

"In sum, they are the devil's children, damned to Hell..." -- Martin Luther.

Martin Luther
"But your [God's] judgment is right, justus es Dominie. Yes, so shall Jews, but no one else be punished, who held your word and miracles in contempt and ridiculed, insulted and damned it for such a long time without interruption, so that they will not fall, like other humans, heathens and all the others, into sin and death, not up in Hell, nor in the middle of Hell but in the pit of Hell, as one cannot fall deeper...

Even if they were punished in the most gruesome manner that the streets ran with their blood, that their dead would be counted, not in the hundred thousands, but in the millions, as happened under Vespasian in Jerusalem and for evil under Hadrian, still they must insist on being right even if after these 1,500 years they were in misery another 1,500 years, still God must be a liar and they must be correct. In sum, they are the devil's children, damned to Hell...

A treatise was written in January 1543 by Martin Luther, the German theologian, in which he advocated harsh persecution of the Jewish people, including that their synagogues and schools be set on fire, prayerbooks destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated.

They should be shown no mercy or kindness,  should have no legal protection,  and these "poisonous envenomed worms" should be drafted into forced labor or expelled for all time.

Four centuries later, the Nazis used quotations from this pamphlet, which was cited by the publisher of the Nazi newspaper Der Stürmer during the Nuremberg trials, to justify the Final Solution.

In the treatise, Luther wrote that Jews are devils, blasphemers, and liars who "lie so clumsily and ineptly that anyone who is just a little observant can easily detect it," a "miserable, blind and senseless" people, "nothing but thieves and robbers who daily eat no morsel and wear no thread of clothing which they have not stolen and pilfered from us by means of their accursed usury." "God and all the angels dance when [the Jew] farts." They should be "toss[ed] out ... by the seat of their pants," and "eject[ed] ... forever from this country." God's anger with them is "so intense that gentle mercy will only tend to make them worse and worse, while sharp mercy will reform them but little. Therefore, in any case, away with them!"

Their synagogues and schools must be set on fire to "bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them." Their houses must be "razed and destroyed,"

Luther's anti-Semitism: "Suffused with theological myth, his writings were viciously antisemitic, his language libelous, abusive, and filthy, his proposals cruel and potentially deadly." [19] He writes that the parallels between Luther's program and Hitler's are clear. "No one can rationally deny the parallels between Luther's program for the Jews and Hitler's.

Although Martin Luther stated that he looked upon the Bible "as if God Himself spoke therein" he also stated, My word is the word of Christ; my mouth is the mouth of Christ"
Martin Luther, for example, taught,
Be a sinner, and sin boldly, but believe more boldly still. Sin shall not drag us away from Him, even should we commit fornication or murder thousands and thousands of times a day

Of the Pentateuch he says: "We have no wish either to see or hear Moses" (Ibid, p. 202).

"The history of Jonah is so monstrous that it is absolutely incredible." (as quoted in O'Hare, p. 202).

"The book of Esther I toss into the Elbe. I am such an enemy to the book of Esther that I wish it did not exist, for it Judaizes too much..."

Martin Luther hated the Jews, which may be why he was against Esther, the first five books of the Bible, and other parts of the Hebrew scriptures.

Notice that Martin Luther advised his followers,
...to burn down Jewish schools and synagogues, and to throw pitch and sulphur into the flames; to destroy their homes; to confiscate their ready money in gold and silver; to take from them their sacred books, even the whole Bible; and if that did not help matters, to hunt them of the country like mad dogs (Luther's Works, vol. Xx, pp. 2230-2632 as quoted in Stoddard JL. Rebuilding a Lost Faith, 1922, p.99).

It sure makes one to wonder if WW II was actually prompted, provoked and incited by these two infamous religious leaders?
Hitler, was a Lutheran, ....he even claimed to be born again.  He read Luther's writings, and claimed to carry out God's will of exterminating the Jewish race.

Peace, AJ

QuoteHitler, was a Lutheran, ....he even claimed to be born again.
Lemme guess his mother was the Harlot of Babylon and his father satan?

Religion is often abused to start war.
Did you ever see "The rise of Evil"
It's about Hitler from totally unknown to just before he became 'famous'
He held speeches. About 3 people came to listen. He even started handing out free beer in the bar he was speeching. So things weren't going very well for him. Why not throw religion into the mix then?
Although I doubt he was a Christian because all of his symbols have pagan origin.
Swastika=sun wheel. The SS letters are lighting  bolds of Zeus.

The Jews certainly murdered Jesus. Bad Jews....
But there are also plenty of good Jews in the Bible. Including Jesus himself.
Kinda stupid reasoning. Hitler was very  but I have zero problems/grudge with people from Germany or Ostria....
On top of that who gave permission for executing Jesus? Who scorged Him. Who crucified Him.
Wheren't that the Romans from..... erm Rome. Like Italy. Like where Hitlers big friend Mussolini came from?

I see a similar pattern going on with the intolerant right wing Republican party which has become exclusive to the point of committing political suicide because they only welcome those who they approve of in religious terms.

Just saying ....

Truth is not possible unless you get past the layers of the lies.  The republican party has been hijacked by a group who are called 'neocons.'  Any schoolchild knows that. Neocons are not Christians. People have been deluded.  What's new?  And what about the 'other party'?  Doesn't seem to make much difference according to Arlen Specter.  Why is he still around?  The architect of the magic bullet theory and the defender of sadistic murderer Ira Einhorn?  Thanks to Specter, Einhorn, the guy who stuffed his murdered girlfriend's body in a trunk, was able to escape justice for some 25 years. Yeah.  He's the guy I want to represent my interests...NOT.

But to perpetrate lies does not make one any better than the original liars.  It's always good to seek the truth, but the truth is elusive to most.

I think the things said about Luther are correct, about Calvin I only know that he was responsible for the murder of Miquel Servetus; both (and other reformators) persecuted the anabaptists (some of them were universalists) as far as I know

43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

--Mat 5

I don't see any justification there for killing or hurting anyone.   How could anyone read this and think that followers of Jesus could justify such things?   Any who attempt to do so are still lost in darkness.

Survey: Support for terror suspect torture differs among the faithful

updated 5:47 p.m. EDT, Thu April 30, 2009
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The more often Americans go to church, the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.

The Washington Region Religious Campaign Against Torture rallied on Capitol Hill in March 2008.

More than half of people who attend services at least once a week -- 54 percent -- said the use of torture against suspected terrorists is "often" or "sometimes" justified. Only 42 percent of people who "seldom or never" go to services agreed, according to the analysis released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

White evangelical Protestants were the religious group most likely to say torture is often or sometimes justified -- more than six in 10 supported it. People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it. Only four in 10 of them did.

The analysis is based on a Pew Research Center survey of 742 American adults conducted April 14-21. It did not include analysis of groups other than white evangelicals, white non-Hispanic Catholics, white mainline Protestants and the religiously unaffiliated, because the sample size was too small.  See results of the survey »

The president of the National Association of Evangelicals, Leith Anderson, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The survey asked: "Do you think the use of torture against suspected terrorists in order to gain important information can often be justified, sometimes be justified, rarely be justified, or never be justified?"

Roughly half of all respondents -- 49 percent -- said it is often or sometimes justified. A quarter said it never is.

The religious group most likely to say torture is never justified was Protestant denominations -- such as Episcopalians, Lutherans and Presbyterians -- categorized as "mainline" Protestants, in contrast to evangelicals. Just over three in 10 of them said torture is never justified. A quarter of the religiously unaffiliated said the same, compared with two in 10 white non-Hispanic Catholics and one in eight evangelicals.

:cloud9: I have read this before about Calvin and Luther, in reading about WW2 and Hitler's influences, and speculation about his possible motives for what he did. Blessings...
