Is accurate dream interpretation always a manifestation of Holy Spirit... or?

Is dream interpretation a matter of recognizing patterns?  And how iron clad can any understanding of a system of interpretation be when different things mean entirely different things to different people?

I know someone that for about the last couple of years, or perhaps a little less, they've essentially been Superman in their dreams, consistently.  Is that a growing identity in Christ?  Does that necessarily reflect discontent with their current circumstances so that their imagination is putting them into more ideal circumstances for personal rest and recovery?  Or can it honestly be nothing more than them watching all things Superman and now it's messin' with their dreams?

I'm using that as an illustration, but are particular identity patterns like that that are recurring significant?  And would they reflect what one believes one is, or would they reflect escapism?  What do recurrent themes, items, and/or actions in dreams indicate?  Is that the voice of God to someone's dreams, imagination, and perhaps future?  Or is it all environmental with one's most dominant sources of information, entertainment, etc.?  If someone is absolutely or almost always flying and always doing other miraculous superhuman things in their dreams, "what meaneth this?"

Someone else that I know, they neither reflect upon, nor indulge in filth and they've had repeated sexual dreams.  Is this the 1Corinthians 7 "burning" 'cause they're single, if they're honestly doing nothing from day to day to encourage their dreams to go there?  Seems kinda hokey to tell someone that if they get married that those dreams will stop, when depending on the marriage they enter into it could wind up increasing.  Would much of that necessarily be hormonal or demonic oppression?

All of the books I've been able to find on dream interpretation always wind up coming from the New Age, so I've not been able to recommend any good Christian books that are both thorough and conclusive about it.  Do any of you know of any solid Scripturally based books on this?

 :cloud9: Hi Martin.... My :2c: I don't know any books on the subject, probably because Christians write it off more often than not. I think dreams come from all of the above, but there are so many accounts of God-given dreams in the Word, I don't know why people tend to discount the possibility.

Once you accept that God can and does speak to His people this way also, it seems to stir up that part of the Christ within to perform that part of the Word, just as teaching the part of healing in the Word mixed with faith manifests healing.

All of my friends have had many God dreams, as have I. One of them writes them down in her journal, and she has had some come to pass even though it's been years since she had some of them.

Just as the HS interprets the Word, He also interprets the dreams, if they are in symbols. Sometime understanding is immediate, sometimes you have to seek Him in prayer for awhile before He opens it up. Sometimes it takes quite awhile before it is revealed. Think of them as a deposit of direction and understanding the Spirit makes. Sometimes, they are just "sealed" until needed.

He provides the provision of whatever is needed. I have had some that were warnings, some that were literal, some that were sealed and in symbols until He wanted them revealed, and some that revealed some part of the Word, and He spoke to me in them. I prefer to call them night visions, because they are so real many times it's just as bright as if you were standing in broad daylight seeing whatever in exact colors, whereas the dreams of our minds tend to be darker and not as real life bright.

As for your friend with the sexual dreams, what they are dealing with there is in the soulish realm, probably a spirit trying to inflame the desires of the person. They need to pray and take authority over it and loose it into the fire of the HG. It works, been there, done that, on a variety of "subjects". Blessings...
