I was talking recently to a Christian woman who was very troubled.

Having chronic and debilitating ill-health for several years; she was feeling quite inadeqate and irrelevant.

She told me:-
"I can't work anymore at the hospital or nursing homes doing what I used to do", and she added; "and I'm too old to become qualified to do anything else".

I pondered all she was saying and then I started considering Jesus; our example...

Jesus never had any: 'wordly' qualifications in healing; yet was 'The': 'Great Physician'... EVERYWHERE Jesus went; He was ever-helping and healing - and not in hospitals... But everywhere/anywhere... and 24/7 (and yes: 'even on the Sabbath'). 

...Even on the cross.

An agent (angel) of God is to be on call to serve God ('good/love') anywhere and everywhere and all the time - even in-season (i.e. when we feel like it), and out of season (when we don't feel like it).

With God as our 'Boss' - we are never 'inadequate' or 'irrelevant'.  Rather; we are MUCH wanted... We need more lights in this darkness.

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'[/color]

I just want to urge anyone who feels the same way...
...Please... Never, never, NEVER quit doing God's work. 

There are people suffering ALL AROUND us (harassed and helpless), and we don't even have to leave our own neighborhood to find them - they are right here - right now, and helping others helps us.

We have power to change someone's life anytime/anywhere (and ours) for the good; making everything that seems hopeless:- worthwhile and meaningful - turning water into wine.

It's nothing but a pleasure to serve God (The Good) in ANY capacity.

'Holy Spirit' means having the right (whole-some) attitude.  This woman was not having the right attitude.
But she does now... And she is healing... And healing others.   :gimmefive:

Everyone has something to give and I urge anyone to give it.  You don't have to be able-bodied or anything. - A kind word, even a smile alone can change a life.

Recently a lovely middle-aged woman who was local to me; climbed up a quarry and threw herself off to her death.
It made me think...
...What if one of us had been the last person she saw? 
What if we had walked past her scowling? 
What if we had walked past her smiling? 
What if we had been on the lookout to do God's work, and perceived her sorrow, and had managed to comfort her enough to (even unknowingly) save her life? 

The power we have is very great and we often don't realize what miracles we can do... We might not realize until we leave this world. 

Our job is the most important job in the kosmos.

'Inadequate and irrelevant'?... No, never.  On the contrary; there is nothing MORE adequate and relevant.

One little thing about all this seems to be that we will KNOW what to do and when.
Specific situations do arise- IMO many people have to go through problems to learn we don't have complete control.
Jesus particularly let Lazarus die first then raised him.
Sick people were coming to Him.
People tried to touch Paul and Peter.
Desperate times can call for desperate measures.
There are many claiming to be healers.
Jesus mentioned not letting the left hand know what the right hand is doing.
Let him who boasts boast in the Lord seems to be how to determine whether the healers are in Christ or in something different.
I have seen some healed but many not.
Doesn't mean people won't be, just the how and when and why would be up to Jesus - we will know because He will lead us.

The way I personally see it is that God is concerned primarily with the soul (inward person), (the flesh profits nothing), and so healing (for many/most) is especially going to be about the soul. 

In my view - first and foremost; people should be praying concerning the healing of their souls. 
The body's healing may (or may not) follow after that - (it will depend upon what that person requires for their souls' correction/healing). - If someone requires a 'thorn' in their side - then so be it.  I require several it seems.

When Jesus healed people (physically or mentally or spiritually); it came with: 'forgiveness of sins' and 'repentence'.

However... Certainly... When one is full of Holy Spirit (Good/righteous/wholesome attitude) - the body performs at the best it can, (under it's present circumstances perhaps) for sure, and physical miracles certainly can and do happen when one is in tune with God/Love (Who cannot deny Himself), yet how many truly are?  Again... How many do we hear fervently praying to God - seeking the healing of their soul (at their physical bodies expense even?) - Not many!
The Lord's Prayer itself is concerned with having only what we require to sustain our physicality, whilst the majority of the prayer is spiritual (all about the heart) - putting God first - doing His will - (loving, forgiving, living in truth (etc)).

I personally leave everything in God's hands and am satisfied with His decisions, because I know it's the heart (the important part) He is concerned with.

Healing seems to be greatly not-understood, and I do understand why.

Jesus was healing people all over the place, and so were His disciples, and then we have examples of when they did not (could not?) heal, (Timothy's stomach) (etc).  God did things at various points in history for specific purposes it seems.

Again; I focus on spiritual healing - the forgiveness of sins - the healing of the heart (the important part). 
If physical healing becomes part of that; then it's a bonus, but it shouldn't be primarily sought-after in my view.  In the grand-scheme of things; physical healing is: 'INFINITELY' less important than spiritual (mind/heart) healing.

Many want physical healing but are not 'spiritually'-repentant (i.e. seeking the actual:- IMPORTANT (spiritual) healing), and so their prayers are in vain. 
People 'think' they know best ("There is a way that seems right to people, yet leads to death"):-
"Make me physically strong again God!  Oh go on!  I'll be a good person this time!"
And if God granted their request - they're little feet would be fleeing to sin as quickly as possible! - Their soul would be in an even worse state and now they haven't kept their promise and require even MORE fire to correct them!
Unless someone specifically requires a certain type of healing for a certain purpose - I think it will be unlikely to happen personally. 
Again... God knows what is best for everyone.

Cut it down! - Why should it use up the soil?"

I believe opposite to most...
I see physical ailments AS HEALING. - (Those 'fleshly thorns' are actually HEALING the soul).
This is why I (try) to glory in infirmities.

To sum up:- If someone is seeking 'predominantly' physical healing - I believe they often ask amiss and thus may not get the answer they had hoped for from the Lord.

God is about getting people out of flesh and into spirit.
