Proverbs 15:29

Proverbs 15:29 YLT98

Far [is] Jehovah from the wicked, And the prayer of the righteous He heareth.

Does this mean that God doesn't love the wicked? Jesus was with sinners so why is Jehovah different here? The verses prior say the following :
Proverbs 15:26 YLT98

An abomination to Jehovah [are] thoughts of wickedness, And pure [are] sayings of pleasantness.

I don't know about anybody else but I have evil thoughts all the time and I was told by many people that our thoughts should not condemned us.  It is very difficult for me to control my thoughts. Is it just me?

No, it's everyone.  It is a consequence of our being carnal, after which we get to be spiritual and pure.  This life will then seem like the bad dream that it is.

This is the struggle Paul highlights in Romans 7;
That struggle, however, is part of learning to appreciate the reality of the sacrifice of Christ to atone completely for us.
Paul goes on in Romans 8 to say there is NO condemnation to them in Christ Jesus who walk everyday with the spirit of the Lord.
Would seem to be why Christ said to take up the cross daily so as to remember what Christ did for us.
Paul also highlights at the end of Romans 8 that NOTHING can keep us from the love of God in Christ Jesus or Lord.

Aerex you are learning. All this takes time.
For me reflection shows heaps of changes in my life, yet still many weaknesses.
But I take strength from  what Paul said in;
2 Cor 12;9 " He [CHrist] said to me,
' My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is fulfilled in weakness'
Therefore I will most gladly boast in my weaknesses in order that the power of Christ may dwell in me."

I would add that we are supposed to bear Christ's cross - and that by his stripes we are healed, the Cross is a medicine now and not an instrument of torture anymore. We bear a branch of the tree of life, so to speak.

I have another question to ask but it is a bit unrelated to this topic. If you don't care about a person's opinion does that mean you don't care about that person. Shouldn't we care about why people have certain opinions?

We will not be agreeing with most peoples opinions. They do not yet know the truth.
Disagreeing about things of religion is a dangerous place. There have been many wars and murders, and still are, about this very topic.
How we express that difference can be explosive, or receive recognition of the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
No easy way about that.
Paul makes an interesting observation about not getting entangled in those sort of discussions.
1 Tim 4;7 " But reject the profane and silly myths; rather train yourself for godliness."
1 Tim 6;3-5 " If someone teaches a different doctrine and does not adhere to the healthy words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the healthy teaching that is according to godliness, he is puffed up with conceit, understanding NOTHING, but has a sickly craving for speculations and fights about words out of which come envy, strife, slanders, and evil suspicions, constant irritations among people who have been corrupted in their mind and have been robbed of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of profit."

I.M.O we care about the person, but know they are not yet being trained by God- so hold nothing against them, but actually feel compassion for them and will listen to them, just not agree with them. Listen, but not judge.

...heck no! I think all us humans, even born again, are in the same boat.. of imperfection.. And having faith that "the work He has begun in us He is faithful to bring to completion".. "all the promises are received though faith"..

An abomination to Jehovah [are] thoughts of wickedness, And pure [are] sayings of pleasantness. -- I have no doubt this is very true as He is perfect, but what infinite patience that He waits so patiently for the "precious fruit of the earth" ..He could have saved Himself a lot of trouble and sorrow, and simply made us to be robots! :laughing7:

I lean toward thinking the Old Testament was very strict so as to prepare one small space upon earth a little prepared for the coming of Messiah in their midst.. As opposed to His being born in the midst of tree worshipers or worse..

I get very dismayed by my own negativity, selfishness and laziness (did I say that out loud?) Which I try to repent of right away (and when we get down on ourselves, He comforts us).

It's a bit comforting to hear others are not yet perfected either! If I could just get my eye to be more single (upon Him) I figure I could be filled more fully with light...

Funny how when we first come to the Lord we can see everyone else's flaws, then as we mature, we don't so much, but can more clearly see our own! :doh:
