What does praying in christ's name mean?  It doesn't mean that I have to actually say "in christ's name" with each prayer in order for the father to listen to me, does it?

I think it's a heart matter, brother.  Our lives in and honoring Him, and our motives being His will.   :2c:

 :cloud9: Name means nature. Praying in His name, is praying in His nature, ie. His perfect will revealed. If you don't know His perfect will concerning what you are praying about, ask Him to let His perfect will be done over whatever it is. That way you ARE praying in His nature. My  :2c: Blessings....

Nope, for me it simply means that I hope to understand what God wants me to do as opposed to what I feel like doing or what other people tell me I should do.

To me it's like adding a signature on the end of a letter, or to be be more precise in the natural, like adding an address on the envelope, so I know that praying in his name guarantees I am speaking to God and not some entity that has picked up and hacked into the tranmission.

Once the letter has been sent, I don't think one has to keep saying in Jesus name, because the  Internet heavenly connection is already established, but when trying to reconnect after disconnecting for a long time, I use Jesus name, so I know I'm connecting to the right service intercessor provider whos Allways On Line, complete with antisin sheperdware to heal any sinsInUs, but if there's problems with unclean demonware, then one can disatach it and plug in new holymodiumspiritware instead

Card stole my response to this :bigGrin:  But I wholly agree that when I pray in Jesus name, my culture sees it as a period at the end of the sentence . . .but I've heard many a preachers praying and Jesus nature was no where in sight.  But in truth, that's why we get new names . . .that's why his name is written in our hearts and we become living epistles. 

A signature is a sign-nature.  He wrote his name upon my heart and transformed my nature into his.

Every TV preacher that you hear "praying" in "Jesus' name" is a charlatan and knows the Lord no better than he knows the President of the U.S.
