I read these verses today in a christian bible study group in response to questions about the marriage supper of the Lord, and when is the judgement seat of Christ? - I didn't realize it was a teaching of the church(es) that the marriage supper of the Lord would occur during what's called 'tribulation' (great and not so great? :dontknow: ) Anyway.. that's kind of creepy, don't ya think? A banquet with the Lord while horrible things are happening to people on earth? ..(like is going on in the middle east even now). So these following verses were a blessing.
:cloud9: :dsunny:

Quote
I'll go out on a limb and suggest the supper will be on earth because of these verses:

"The LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain;
A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow,
And refined, aged wine.
And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples,
Even the veil which is stretched over all nations.
He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces,
And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth;
For the LORD has spoken."
Isaiah‬ 25:6-8‬

"for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom.""
Matthew‬ 26:28-29‬

It sounds to me like this is going to be real wine, the product of real grapes, not spiritual wine from spiritual grapes in heaven. And, the next time He comes, it will be to set up His kingdom on earth, and to receive His bride to Himself.

:HeartThrob:

..I tend to think of the judgment seat of Christ as being metaphor(?) for when He returns. That some gather around Israel/Jerusalem to wage war and annihilate her.. tares gathered in bundles? Rev 16:14-16 But mostly, I just wanted to post those verses especially the ones from Isaiah..

..at the penultimate moment of the 7th trump(et)..? Which I have taken that caught away and joining moment to be the marriage supper.. but now I'm thinking 'marriage' yes, but not the supper.. (Not just metaphor!  I knew that, but yet I didn't know that. Maybe I just forgot! :laughing7: )

:Peace2:

:2c:  the  marriage supper of the Lord..is the TRUE SAYINGS OF GOD.....the virgins must have extra oil to take along so their Lamp[light/understanding]

does not go out.  the wise tell the foolish to go to those who sell and buy...the reason the foolish didn't have the extra oil given by God of His true sayings is

because they bought the doctrines of men and their understanding of those who make merchandise of them......so their lamps went out.

if you are clothed in filthy rags of your own righteousness..instead of the free gift of righteousness..and God's righteous mind/truth...you will be cast out of the

marriage supper=not be able to partake with Him of it......preferring instead your own doctrines/understanding or men's over God's mind.

the four kinds of oil..of whichwe need all...are the oil of His rebuke to edify us and enlighten us[lead us into all truth]

the oil of the Father's will that none perish and all men saved  O'Live oil

the oil of joy of the Father that prodigal's are saved

the oil of joy that the Father waived judgement/condemnation of mankind and instead chose forgiveness, grace and mercy and restoration unto mankind.

Psalms 45 oil of joy of the Bridegroom................. He endured the torture stake/cross for this...

sheila

Now the bride and bridegroom have friends and attendants.[SOS].......these extra vessels carry the oil/ she is not denied in front of the angels by Christ....

,,,she has made friends for herself by being faithful with the unrighteous mammon.[not made merchandise of God].and God gives her the true treasures...

for you can not serve God and Mammon.  Buy the truth and sell it not!!!  You received freely/give freely.......

few will understand/take the narrow path that leads to life on this side[marriage supper] many take the wide path that leads to destruction..but...Jesus died for

many. .........and all shall enter in their own order.      :2c:

These metaphors hav many applications. For instance, the virgins are invited to the marriage feast. Those who were compelled to come in from the highways and hedges were invited to the marriage feast. Yet, the marriage feast is the union of the Bride and the Lamb, and the Bride is "coming down out of heaven" adorned in white linen, "righteous acts".

So are we virgins in attendence? Or are we the Bride? Paul says our mother is Jerusalem above who is free. Is she our mother? Or are we the heavenly Jerusalem, as it says in Hebrews 12.

If we categorize people by these or apply them historically I think we miss the point, and I agree with Sheila that they are metaphors of spiritual reality, and receiving the revelation of Christ. If our vessels are not filled, we cannot enter the celebration, because we cannot hear the "word of reconciliation".

This is not to say they have no historic application- for they will all be "fulfilled" in the administration of the fulness of times", and in the "period of the restoration of all things." This is not to say their are no "categories" represented in the metaphors- but the reson the metaphor is given is so that we will enter into it "Today, if (we) hear His voice"....Not so we will judge others by it.

All the virgins were sleeping when they heard the cry, "The Bridegroom is coming". God speaks and everyone is awakened.

"Awake, O sleeper, and the light of Christ will shine upon you."

But those whose vessels are empty cannot make it through the night(darkness) to the door(behold I stand at the door and knock) and do not realize- the celebration is already started, the union already begun for "all those who have entered in".

For God, who said "Let light shine out of darkness," made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7Now we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this surpassingly great power is from God and not from us.

To me one application of the marriage supper is the celebration of the union of the Bride with her groom. it is the revelation that we are all one in Him, that "every child born of Him loves the child born of Him."

Those who pursue sectarian doctrinal views over and above the love of Christ are cast out, just as much as those "who say they kno God yet hate their brother".

I think, if we have not received that the revelation of our oneness is deeper that the doctrines that separarte us, we are not at the wedding supper. We are not celbrating the Bride. This does not mean we all agree on everything- it means we understand that that "Christ crucified" is the revelation of God's nature of love and "Christ in you the hope of glory" is the reality of that expressed through us. If Christ is in you, I celebrate that- above whatever our differences are.

That is how we are a body....

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own fleshbut nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church(ecclesia)..

when we love one another.

As well as being a temple of living stones, a city set on a hill, a mountain upon which the veil that covers all the peoples shall be removed..... all aspects of those who hav entered the kingdom of God, having come under the Lordship of His love.

Marie, of the hundreds of times I've read those sentences in Isaiah, my insides still just thrill when I read them. They thrilled even when I didn't really grasp what they meant. What incredible power in those Words.

Abigail

Those verses from Isaiah were exactly the ones God used to convince me of UR :-)

I was extremely upset and depressed about the fate of mankind, yet when I read those words Gods peace and joy and love and hope dawned on me...

I love these words from our God Who never stops loving!!!
