we / christians need to listen to God more?

...And listen to people less? ...I was reading in Mark 7..Jesus told the Pharisees, they don't do the will of God (follow the commands of God) in order to do the commands of men.

Of course there's value in listening to humans - "how shall they hear without a preacher/teacher?"

But is it a very common human failing to listen to, tune into, what man and people say, more than what God speaks?

2 sides to this coin? be sure of what we hear, and be sure of what we say..

Yes, that's a part people often forget. Christ reconciling all of Heaven and all of Earth. I think of Earth like a lab experiment, not only are we learning a lesson, but the spirits in the heavens too. God is using us as an example to show both the evil spirits and us human sinners the badness fo sin.

That's why God is "showing" us mercy. Not just because He's merciful to forgive all our sins. He's also teaching us HOW to be merciful! So he's "showing" us what mercy is all about! So I think that's the unavoidable lesson. :HeartThrob:
