i need some advice. i have some friends that are having a real hard time with the idea of women being pastors. i don't know how i feel on this subject yet. scripture seems to say it's a mans role like marriage is a man and woman. I really have no problem in the physical with either of these scenarios but i do think life works better if its run a certain way.
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

I don't know either. :dontknow: I do know if women in those early days had begun to be pastors of the ecclesiastical, it could've caused quite an uproar interfering with the going forth of the glad tidings/gospel message.

Though a woman pastor feels foreign or not quite right(?) a woman teacher or speaker seems okay. :dontknow: I know I would love to be in a position where I could be a speaker for the logos .. truth, the Lord..

But pastor, I guess, to me, is like the head of a family...(?)

Women pastors or   priest in the bible   there are none   I know except   maybe ,chaste virgins for Christ ....

1 Timothy   said ,
11 Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.

12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

To me I see the role of the woman is   to be  a helper , Many women  in the bible done just that ...

Seems  teachers /preachers   get   the stricter punishment / correction .

.Why would you want that position  unless God actually called you to preach the gospel ?  A  prisoner  of Jesus Christ   Paul said he was ..

Romans 15:16
to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an acceptable offering to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

James 3 KJ21   My brethren, let not many be masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

ASV   Be not many of you teachers, my brethren, knowing that we shall receive heavier judgment.

AMP   Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity],

my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly].

AMPC   Not many [of you] should become teachers (self-constituted censors and reprovers of others), my brethren, for you know that we [teachers] will be judged by a higher standard and with greater severity [than other people; thus we assume the greater accountability and the more condemnation].

I could never judge anyone in a good conscience  as to  them being called of God or of men , men pleasers seems to be what  they also warn of NOT to do .

The  other  scriptures  say  neither  male or female but in Christ

Gal 3 Sons Through Faith in Christ

...27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise....

Joel 2:29
"Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

I see  them both  as having  there part and role in  Gods service .

Be  so  even seen as angels , messengers of God  that  are neither male or female , but   the LORDS servants  , ministering to  Him
If we are to know no one after the flesh any longer, Not even Christ  , but seeing them as Spiritual beings , this could  even be a possibility  to consider .

I do believe as Christians  it is our job to  lift the fallen  and restore the broken  and help heal the sick  and hurting  as to doing it unto the Lord

Colo 3 Christian Households

...22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.

23 Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,

24because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward.

It is the Lord Christ you are serving....
Jesus is the reward  !!

Romans 10;15 " And how are they to proclaim the message unless they are sent?"
MANY will claim to know Jesus, do miracles in His name, but HE NEVER knew them.

One of those other interesting observations made by Paul to the Thessalonians;

1 Thess 4;9-12 " Now with regard to brotherly love you have NO NEED FOR US TO WRITE TO YOU,
FOR YOU YOURSELVES HAVE BEEN TAUGHT BY GOD how to love one another.
Indeed you do show love to all the brothers throughout Macedonia, but we urge you to do so more and more.
Make it your aim to live a quiet life,
to attend to your own affairs,
and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you.
In this way you will live a proper life before outsiders
AND BE DEPENDENT ON NO ONE."

Not seeming to tell anyone to become a missionary. Living among people plays that role as a living example.
Fellow brother in Christ

GodIsLove

A church I'm considering attending has a woman pastor (it is a Lutheran church). I have been emailing her and went to visit once recently to talk to her.

Maybe my views are different because I'm fairly young and a woman myself? I tend to think some parts of the Bible are commentary on the culture of the time such as this passage:

4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

But I don't know, it's just my opinion  :dontknow:

I totally agree we are witnesses to Gods Glory in our  speech ,  sharing the good news and living   a quiet life .Amen

But as to being a teacher or preacher is more of  a warning    to being   Living those things  if  teaching  men so ...

and not the ticking of the ears as to say ,  sin is ok  , you got grace  :sigh:...  but to be Honest and faithful in   your speech and more so lives  as a living example  of the risen Christ in you ..[His life in you ]

Matthew 5:19 (CSB) Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever practices and teaches [these commandments] will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

and 2Tim 4 Preach the Word
...2  Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and encourage with every form of patient instruction.

3For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.

4So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths....

You got to Live it  first before you can  be an example  or  correct anyone    in my opinion ..

[pulling the beam out of your eye to see clearly ] , and leave the speck  in the   others eye for the Lords correction ,

but continue to pray   for one another in Love and forgiveness and if we lack, ask  for Gods gifts of love and forgiveness  to spread   abroad within our own hearts  .
Only God can  make this happen   that is a very close encounter with  GOD being first and foremost and above all things ..

These shall do the greater works  because Jesus did go to the Father ...  John 14

Matt 10    the proof of the root ,   JESUS CHRIST   the tree of Life     is in the fruit   , the doings  .

...7As you go, preach this message:

'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons.

Freely you have received; freely give. 9 Do not carry any gold or silver or copper in your belts....

I do not think ,in my opinion , you can serve God[  in righteousness ]  and mammon [riches ]   unrighteous  gain  .worldly things

We will love one or the other , it is not possible to serve  both  masters  [scriptures  witness to this ]   one mind   will rule over the other  one .

carnal [beast] minded  or Christ [obedient to the Heavenly Father ] minded  are at odds with the other ...

If you are in Christ than you are a new creation  ,  made able , by Him supplying  every need ,  to serve the Lord in  honor of His   Holy name and  glory   freely as it was given to you  , in my opinion .
Jesus is the reward  !!

i tend to see that adam and eve represent spirit and soul or as jugg is helping me see, mind and heart so the idea of women pastors does seem to not be a healthy entity as that would make the soul the head???? it would mix up adam and eve. hmmmmm
For it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

sheila

the epistle's.......written in the heart and mind...thus the two..become ONE.  the women proclaiming the good newsi s a large  army.

the marriage of the Lamb..the wedding supper...is bringing these two into ONE...if the woman doesnot understand[while remaining

silent in the congregation] let her ask her husbandat home. The bridegroom husband is also the head of the man[one man of the two]

there are men that are led about of babylon/jezebel..instead ofJerusalem above...and there are women with men of sin ruling over

them instead of the sonof God.

the bride has to prepare herself.......[there I willgive you my love] and husband must have a cleanturban[mindof Christ] on his head

...for your thought are not my thoughts...you are frombelow and Iam from above.

there is the shadow.[flesh/temporal]..and the reality[Spirit/eternal]

sheila

consider..feedmy sheep...pasture/pastor..andsonof songs with the little goat shepherdesss. also proverbs..the capable wife and the

dispensingof food to her maidens. ConsiderJerusalem Above our Mother...and to not forsake the lawofloving-kindness of our mother.

Deberah ajudge/amotherrisingup for Israel..consider women prophetess's...and the testimony of Jesus Christ being the spiritof

prophecy. and Iwill pour out my spirit on all flesh.Perhaps it is the spirit speaking from a woman at times....would you silence the spirit

being a respector of persons? The risen Christ appeared unto the women first..andJesus chastized the disciples for notbelieving them

[tradition in Israel that a womancould not be a wittness. would we invalidate the wordof Godbecauseof tradition?

ask God...... not men.........can women proclaim God'sjudgement..prophesy andbear  wittness to the gospel..teach[Jerusalem Above]

..bear sons and be shepherdess's? did women recieve the spirit whenit waspoured out?

Just as God gave preference unto Israel..with the gospel..andthen unto the gentiles.so,too, God gave preference unto the men..and

then the women.

was one little ewe  offered on the altar in the law covenant? was one littleewe lamb bought and slayed by he who coveted another mans

wife?was a daughter better to you than7 sons..written in the scriptures also for our edifying?Did not Ruth cleave to Naomi..and bear

a son in the lineage of Christ.?

are we not commanded to honour Father and Mother? Is there not a gate named Beautiful ..as the women's court in the Temple?..

and is not the TEMPLE ONE BODY?  was it not a virgin who concieved Christ by the Holy spirit?did not women prefer to be divorced

by their husbandsbefore they woulddeny Christ? also seperated from some pastors[congregations/denominations before denyingChrist.

......SOS....praise her love.....Proverbs..her husband arises andcallsher blessed..let her works bring her praise at the city gates

let the Holy spirit write epistle's in the minds of the sons andthe hearts of the daughters...andlet them be one.preferring one another

ps...just trying toget you to widen out your perspective.   :2c:..wifedoyou not know you may save your husband..husbandyou may save

your wife..so saviours may be male or female in Christ[the saviour],I'dsay.

sheila

woman[wombman] is a part of man.....the heart of  man and mind of man  must be one spirit, just as man and wife are one flesh.

......the heart must conceive in love the mind of Christ......truth..to bear fruit/righteous offspring..

.ALL MY SPRINGS/fountains ARE IN THEE.Psalms 87;7...Indeedof Zion it will be said 'this one and that one were born in her"

Songs; a spring enclosed..a garden of delights with much fruit.

covenant/marriage.....parts ofwhich God passes between the two.......

And so I think the divine concept is that men and women are equal and should love and honor each other the same way. The human idea (of the ancient times) was that women were inferior to men. I know that sometimes this seems comfortable for women too, but generally speaking I am of the view that there should be women pastors. I've been in school with girls, and they were just as good as boys in school. I worked with women and they were just as capable to do the job as men. So I do not think women would be worse pastors then men provided they got a good education and have a good relationship with God. Remember that the bible at places has condoned slavery, while it is clearly a sin to take the freedom of a man and while Christ is said to set us free. What God has set free, nobody shall turn into bondage again.

I pretty much agree with that.. I read before that the line "let the women be silent in church" :faint: had to do with some women folk who were carrying on conversations of their own during meeting for the Lord time.. (not the time for it!)

If ever got the chance to start a bible group in my home or elsewhere.. or to be a speaker or a teacher, I would in a heartbeat! :soap: :trampoline: :blah:

I do however support (and encourage) men leading and being leaders whenever possible.. (if grounded in Truth of course)
