6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil.

What do you think?

Not sure I understand what you are saying.  Can you explain a bit further?

Chapther 3 is mainly a list of qualitiies a leader should have.
3:6 States that new Christians easily fall in teh trap of vanity.

"Judement of the devil" is a bad translation.
"Taken to court because of slander" is a better tranlation.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

I found a pretty good thought on the subject.

He fall into the condemnation of the devil - That is, the same kind of condemnation which the devil fell into; to wit, condemnation on account of pride. It is here intimated that the cause of the apostasy of Satan was pride - a cause which is as likely to have been the true one as any other. Who can tell but it may have been produced by some new honor which was conferred on him in heaven, and that his virtue was not found sufficient for the untried circumstances in which he was placed? Much of the apostasy from eminent virtue in this world, arises from this cause; and possibly the case of Satan may have been the most signal instance of this kind which has occurred in the universe. The idea of Paul is, that a young convert should not suddenly be raised to an exalted station in the church. Who can doubt the wisdom of this direction? The word rendered "lifted up" (τυφωθὲις tuphōtheis), is from a verb which means to smoke, to fume, to surround with smoke; then to "inflate" - as a bladder is with air; and then to be conceited or proud; that is, to be "like" a bladder filled, not with a solid substance, but with air.

Nathan

1-7If anyone wants to provide leadership in the church, good! But there are preconditions: A leader must be well-thought-of, committed to his wife, cool and collected, accessible, and hospitable. He must know what he's talking about, not be overfond of wine, not pushy but gentle, not thin-skinned, not money-hungry. He must handle his own affairs well, attentive to his own children and having their respect. For if someone is unable to handle his own affairs, how can he take care of God's church? He must not be a new believer, lest the position go to his head and the Devil trip him up. Outsiders must think well of him, or else the Devil will figure out a way to lure him into his trap.  (Message Translation)

For me, I see a spiritual father advising his spiritual son of ways to keep hsi church most effective.  Fruit is evidence of maturity.  Absence of fruit is a sign that the tree may not have been through weatheing and testing for it's own benefit.  Handing an infant any kind of weapon or tool can lead to calamity on any level.  A new beleiver needs to be tested . . .not to bring confusion, but to bring strength.  I have found that when my head hears where my heart is through the words that come out of my mouth, it makes things easier for me to see how they all fit into place.  When people ask questions, it gives the opportunity for the spirit to reveal in me where I "am" on a matter that otherwise, I may have a general thought, but no experience or ability to share with someone else.

The seed is in the fruit.  If the fruit in people is either not fully formed, or not there at all, those people can't very well plant seeds in others if they've not yet fully developed in them first.

Paul Hazelwood

It is about not trying to teach and lead people while you are stilll inmature in your walk.

I would say if someone does try to use it against God saving all mankind, we get into the area of what exactly is the judgement of the devil.   Of course then the age old debate over aionios begins.   :happy3:

Lefein

Young, inexperienced people put in high positions of power tend to get full of "Pride".

The Devil fell for his pride, refuses to repent of it, and will hence be judged for it.  Seems the same arena of judgement for pride given to one creation, would suffice for another.

the judgment that fell upon the devil was that he fell (like lightning). A haughty spirit comes before a fall. As much as it pains some folk, God is in the separation business ----  wheat from chaff, light from darkness, bone from marrow, soul and spirit, sheep and goats, wheat and tares..... all so He can reveal unto us our true heart so we can humble ourselves and be reunited with Him(let ther be light!).  At the present time, in the adnministration of His plan to sum up all things in Christ and reconcile all things through the blood of His cross so that God may be all in all, He is revealing His wisdom to the principalities and powers (this includes the adversary) through the church(universal invisible body of beilievers).

Because a novice has not been sufficiently tried to recieve the nature of jesus and the mind of Christ, he/she will likely fall into arrogance if given the keys to the car via the laying on of hands and prophetic utterance. A novice spirit is not a matter only of age, but rather of a mature(humble, trusting, serving, discerning) spirit.

Thats why we are to entrust oour souls to those who because of experience have their senses exercised to discern the difference between good(spirit/renewed mind) and evil(carnality/natural mind)

Romans 12:2-4 Greek Study Bible (Apostolic / Interlinear)

And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God

For I say through the grace given unto me to every man that is among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think but to think soberly __ according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith

For as we have many members in one body and all members have not the same office

Ephesians 4:1-3 Greek Study Bible (Apostolic / Interlinear)

I therefore the prisoner of the Lord beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called

With all lowliness and meekness with longsuffering forbearing one another in love

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace

14But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.[without form and void]

15This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. [fallen]

16For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.[chaos]

17But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. [Let There Be Light!]

18And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. [and the light was separated from the darkness, the first day, and God saw that it was good]

"...no novice, lest, being conceited, he should be falling into the judgment of the Adversary.  Yet he must have an ideal testimony also from those outside, that he should not be falling into the reproach and trap of the Adversary. (1 Timothy 36-7; Concordant Literal Translation)

We have here the devil as judge, the devil as slanderer, and the devil as trapper.
