What does it mean when Jesus says that he will cut him to pieces... where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth- doesn't this disprove UR? :mshock:

Are you a good enough writer to make up a character like Taffy?
I think this is one of those reality stranger than fiction situations.

Yo Brian , I could see you last Nite responding, Couldnt keep me peepers open any longer ..Twas2.45am, way Past me Bedtime, Ya must have posted when I closed Down...and Yes Bro Definately Symbolism

To Tear , to Rip the Flesh , the Flesh Is the SOUL (The Heart and Mind = carnal Mindedess, ) Tis why Christ used Sarcasm, It was AN indication of a Tearing which needs applying to ALL flesh.

It seems  Gnashing Is seen Too be One of Man, the Other ,of HIS righteous wrath, but  the  common theme is ANGER, by Cutting ( with words)

The Wicked Gnash Their Teeth? Those pharisee Folk Did That To Stephen , just Prior to his execution,""" AND They Gnashed Their TEETH at Him"""

Act 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with [their] teeth
But Righteous Wrath Brings Forth Life, lasts but for a Moment :icon_flower:

Psa 30:5 For his anger [endureth but] a moment; in his favour [is] life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy [cometh] in the morning. my words( when The Morning Star Rises In your Heart :icon_flower:

Cut Him To pieces, Tis The Mind of Carnality, the Soul, Its Torn To pieces,I see this as Their Weeping, and His Gnashing.

Matthew 24:51
and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Job 16:9
God assails me and tears me in his anger
and gnashes his teeth at me;
my opponent fastens on me his piercing eyes.

Paul Indicates a Shedding of Tears for those who are enemies Of the Cross, Paul The ex enemy shedding Tears for His Kin folk :dontknow:

Phl 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, [that they are] the enemies of the cross of Christ:

Luke 13:28
In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out

Ive always  had the Inclination That Teeth relate somewhat To Words .

Again, seen One after the Natural and then HIS, ....Spears arrows, darts are often used as Metaphors For them,in the manner to CUT

Psa 57:4 My soul [is] among lions: [and] I lie [even among] them that are set on fire, [even] the sons of men, whose teeth [are] spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Mat 27:42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

Mat 27:43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
Mat 27:44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

just a Few thoughts. :icon_flower:

Shadowland

One is in darkness (before they come to Jesus) and definitely can't see (blind to understanding)......and there you gnash your teeth because you are away from God and wish you were Close to Him (One of True Faith).  Walking in the flesh.

Hypocrits:  those who pretend and do/perform from their own self as a Christian.............those who fake it!

Then God has you believe...and you bow out(of yourself) to Him and wish to do His will....for His will to become your desires and Love to others becomes a part of you.........walking in the Spirit/walking after the Spirit.

thanks for explaining :)

You see a lot of this in conversations when there is a high pressure and a low pressure of spiritualism colliding.  That great shaking Hebrews tells us about.  It's when a UR believer would go into an ET service and proclaim what they see to the others attending . . .that would bring about a great gnashing of teeth.

Putting that in the context of Scripture . . .
Matthew 8
11And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.  12But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.   13And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

The passage Taf was referring to in Acts is actually the fulfillment of this.  When we come to people who are "of" the kingdom and try to explain to them the things "in" the kingdom, we create such a reaction from them that they lash out at us . . .words of rebuke . .the gnashing of teeth . ..because it is assumed that when you become a Christtian . .especially baptized in the spirit, that you are "in" the kingdom . . but for me, being in the kingdom is not being baptized in spirit . . .that baptism is to be a witness, to be "in" the kingdom requires the purification of fire . . .or fire baptism.  It ain't fun and pretty . . .but it's powerful and most rewarding.  It's like getting a tooth pulled (much simpler scale of course) but there is a great fear of intense pain when it comes time to pull . .. but it's only for a second, the tooth is out . .and now, the old can be replaced with the new.

There are many religious people still walking around with their baby teeth, intimidated by the fear of pain . . .so much so that they convince themselves, pain is not to be had by them because that's not God's will.  When truth is, power comes by way of pain.  Feel the burn . . yes?  Not because you like torture, but because pressure brings power.  Power brings freedom, freedom brings life.  The pressure is only temporary.  The power is eternal.

Mat 3:11  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I,
whose shoes I am not worthy
to bear:
he
shall baptize
you  with  the Holy  Ghost,  and with fire(a tongue?):

Acts 2:38  Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and
you shall
receive
The Gift
of the Holy Ghost
( and I do believe this is with the evidence (your own and whoever hears you) of speaking in a foreign tongue when you get that close to God...wow....a diff hapening alltogether.

Reason I believe it this way is because it happened to me.  I went down in the water in the name of Jesus Christ....that was said when I went under.

The week before I was WATER baptized, I received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. You just do this in faith.  There the promise is.  I was standing in front of the altar, the pastor was praying for/with me,(I thought if I stand here and this something will happen to me then I will just stand here like they tell me to do (because I wanted nothing more in my life then to be closer to God and be forgiven for all I had done wrong-the guilt you know) it took a long time for I had to get past myself(afraid of people and what they thought). That was Nov. 1984. I remember seeing nothing, think on God, pray/talk to God, and then the miraculous happened....seconds were separated.....somewhere in there I spoke in an unknown to me tongue. I remember my body falling to the floor...but it seemed like the All that was Me....was still standing there....and as if I said(but already knowing) "I have to go back to my body don't I).  When I did exceeding joy came to me and I was laughing and delivered from cigarettes too....as if I had never had one.  This closeness to God stayed with me into the next day.  A friend told me other employees were asking what was wrong with me....I did not see that I was any different....except to say that when I went to walk here or there I had to slow down....otherwise I would walk up some invisable stair.

(There is a speaking in a unknown tongue seperate from this receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost.....for this happened to me also, mostly when I was out in the woods funny words were rather sung-it was okay-this was the summer before the above, and I didn't think anyone was listening and I couldn't tell if it was just me/my mind doing it....don't really care either.) And then there is also a Tongue and Interpretation.

From my lifetime then, I believe there are many experiences from God unto perfection.  Just have Faith, Believe them, and stay with God long enough........ somewhere.....to get them all...........who cares where they happen.  One person I know received the Gift of the Holy Ghost right in her bedroom.  So Expect... from God!  He has much in store for YOU.

When others do not believe this...they have gnashing of teeth.....until it happens to them!

"Weeping is being sorrowful; and in anger or despair comes the gnashing of teeth."

Have you noticed that more often than not, the ones who grind their teeth are basically, hypocrites - those who profess with their lips, but act contrary to faith.

"...And now you have betrayed and murdered him— you who have received the law..." (Acts 7:52-53)

"When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart (furious), and they gnashed on him with their teeth." (Acts 7:54) ...

"While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.' Then, he fell on his knees and cried out, 'Lord, do not hold this sin against them.' When he had said this, he fell asleep [died]." (Acts 7:59-60)

Now that is familiar!
