why do animals suffer pointlessly ?...please help this guy I know

Good month May; my wife is 8 hours older than me- both middle of May;
                          our wedding anniversary is in May- 37 years this year.

    8 hours older! ..our anniversary this year in June will be 38 years..

I was thinking late last night about this thread and some of the verses and laws in the old Testament which God said to treat their animals humanely..

I believe all animals return to their creator, just as we do. What happens to them in eternity, I don't know, and what awareness of God they have, I am not sure.

Cruelty is all around us, in this fallen world. I think, that when we die and see and feel the vastness of eternity, we will realize we were here for but a fleeting moment.

When we all go home, with the Lord, our perspective on all of this, down here, will be very, very different. And, we will see His hand in everything, and know He was always with us, all.

And, yes, we do need to do things as kindly as possible, to animals and humans, alike.

I was thinking of how the animals prey upon one another, how it's a perfect example of how if love isn't the ruling force, then the ruling force becomes self interest, which is dog eat dog.. (When it comes to mankind, his theory of the survival of the fittest as the highest ideal, makes things much worse. Making ppl more beastly. Some beasts not half so cruel as ppl can be..)
