26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

--Acts 8

We see in verse 29 the Holy Spirit is speaking to Philip, giving him instruction regarding the man in the chariot.  But, if we look at verse 26, we see that it is the angel of the Lord who first sends Philip in the direction of the chariot.

Question:   Am I the only one who sees' the angel of the Lord' in verse 26 as being the same person as the Holy Spirit in verse 29 ?

Or were the disciples talking to more than one supernatural being?   Notice how Philip does exactly what he's told to do, even though, in this case, it involves interrupting the journey of a powerful stranger.

micah7:9

I do not believe that I have stated or implied that the Holy Spirit does not entreat, inspire, communicate with man, the spirit of the Lord WAS,IS, AND WILL BE. "el-o-heem'" is plural, plural could be 2 or more, plural could be 3, 5, 7, 9, etc. Religion and theology along with the carnal mind have theorized because of the mentioning The Lord God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit that 3 is plural.

It was asked is there any mention, in the Bible, that the Holy Spirit is identified as a person? I say no.
I am not disputing the power and workings of the Holy Spirit, I am not denying the Holy Spirit as real. I believe that the Holy Spirit is the very power, the energy, by which and through which, The Lord gets everything done.
There is no mention of "trinity" in the Bible, so why is there such a doctrine? Perhaps the same way religion and theology teach "hell" as a place of eternal torment?
Admitting that the trinity teaching is false and not biblical, does not deny the Holy Spirit as being real.
"And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." For me, that's what the Spirit of the Lord God does.......MOVES, the Holy Spirit or Spirit of the Lord God is WIND and that wind can be kind and a soft builder and grower, as well as destruction, mighty and strong is also a facet. Still all is done in love.   :dsunny:

Molly

"The Spirit of ...God..moves"

He also speaks.  His voice can be heard by the ears.  As if he is speaking the words through a mouth, His mouth.

He does other things as well.

But, in the passage I quoted, He is telling Philip what to do and Philip does it, even though it involves running after a chariot in the middle of the desert in the middle of the night to talk to a powerful stranger.

Question:  Are 'the angel of the Lord" and the Holy Spirit the same supernatural being in Acts 8?

We see how close Philip is to the Spirit and how comfortable he feels.  He thinks nothing of jumping out of bed in the middle of the night because he has been told to and going into the desert, all the time having no idea why.

He is willing to do what he is told, so as to be an instrument of God.

wow.

micah7:9

"Move," can be speaking as well.
By the way, where do you get the "he"?

Act 8:26  And a messenger of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, `Arise, and go on toward the south, on the way that is going down from Jerusalem to Gaza,' --this is desert.
Act 8:29  And the Spirit said to Philip, `Go near, and be joined to this chariot;'
Act 8:39  and when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, and the eunuch saw him no more, for he was going on his way rejoicing;
Now there you have the moving of the Spirit of the Lord God.

Molly

Yes, Philip is supernaturally translated from one place to another by the Holy Spirit.

This happens in the Old Testament as well.

1Moreover the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the Lord's house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

2 Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city:

--Eze 11

QuoteBy the way, where do you get the "he"?

Where do I get 'He' for God?  How do I know it is not God, Goddess, All that will?   From the Bible, that's where.

But, my question remains.

PS I've also heard His voice.  There is no question the Holy Spirit is a 'He.'  The most beautiful male voice I have ever heard.

micah7:9

"Yes, Philip is supernaturally translated from one place to another by the Holy Spirit."
No denying Philip was caught up in the spirit.
And no denying as well that Ezekiel was lifted up in the spirit and shown things.
And I do believe that the Lord God is a He for HE said Deu 6:4  `Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah;
Joh 10:30  I and the Father are one.'
I as well have been honored and humbled to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit of the Lord, whether that voice was male, I know not.
You wrote, "But, my question remains." What was that question?
My question remains as well, in the Bible where is the Holy Spirit indentified as a person? The trinity theory speaks of 3 persons in one.
I have not denied the spiritual reality of the Holy Spirit working and moving within God's creation through out the Word of God... was, is, and will be.

Love your persuing the Truth Micah !!!
Great question   too .
I  asked the same  ones over  and over for years now
God has  every thing precise and consistent and perfectly   set , in patterns  , there are many pattrens of 3's if you look for them and  2's  and  4 's sevens   12's  etc . an example   the     tabernacle is a  3 pattern  inner court  outer court and holy of holies   =3

I went digging  and found these that helps  ease the " burning question " of having to know , it helped me alot
so I decided to share this  , just my  own comfort  mind  you , I  will always suggest a person  look and dig and search for yourself  , thats the  best peace  you can get   for them  questions

In the begining we see that in Gen 1  , God made them male and female  and called  them  Adam

so you see the image or  likeness   a mirror   of reflection is a clue to me God has male and female  / Wisdom of God is the  female sophia [greek word ]
how can you have a son   = Jesus Christ  without the male and female   as ONE flesh ?
God in His wisdom   formed this very patteren in the natural  realm  to show us the   Spiritual realm

So the Holy Spirit to me is the Father and Mother  =Wisdom  of proverbs where Jesus Christ was always the Son of God
these  3 are as One flesh, One  Spirit  One Faith = One etc ...  Paul  goes on the speak of the  flesh as being celestial in 1CORNTH 15
Be well   in your search Micah , theyare fill of treasures  to seek out and find , very satisfying  to the hungry  soul

perhaps  Gods soul is His female  side ?  I am not certain     why the pattern of  body , soul and Spirit are also a 3 pattern   ,  but there are many of them thoughout His Word ..

In the same   way  Eve come out of Adam  , so may have Wisdom come out of God
there is  also  the pattern of seven   and in the fulness    of the 7 spirits of God , one is wisdom
on one stone =Christ Jesus .

Pro 8:22  The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

1Cr 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory
Pro 3:19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
Pro 3:21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
Pro 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget [it] not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Pro 4:7 Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Pro 4:11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
Pro 5:1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, [and] bow thine ear to my understanding:
Pro 7:4 Say unto wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
Pro 8:1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
Pro 8:5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

--Ex 23

He we see an Angel who

1)will go before the Israelites and keep them in the way

2)bring them to a place prepared by God

3) will not pardon their transgressions against him

4)who has God's name in him

5)who has the voice of God. [they are to obey his voice and 'do all that I speak'--so it is the voice of God]

Is this Angel the Holy Spirit?

Is this the same Angel of the Lord we see in Acts 8:26?

Raphael's painting of the Angel of the Lord rescuing Peter out of the prison.

Is this the Holy Spirit?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Deliveranceofstpeter.jpg

5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Is the Holy Spirit the Angel of the Lord's presence?

8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

I see that this thread was started a few days ago and I have been away from my computer for the past few days. I would like to respond by saying thank you to Molly for starting this thread. Like most of you I am trying to sift through the lies for the truth. I have known in my own mind that the trinity was a false pagan doctrine which dates back a thousand years or so before Christ was born. The "Christians have always done a great job of spinning pagan doctrines into "Christian" doctrines. I suppose that it made "Christianity more palatable to the heathens. Now many years after the creation of the trinity theory people are still under the veil and cannot see the forest for the trees. Blindly they except what Yahweh calls "the traditions/doctrines of men.

Mark 7

7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.

12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;

13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

By the way I also want to thank everyone who has participated in this thread. It has been not only enlightening but also has confirmed to me that which I already believed to be the truth.

Just a note, from Genesis to Revelation "angel" is a messenger. H4397 mal'âk   G32 aggelo
Yes I know in the definition it says angel, why?
Celestial- Heaven: above the sky;
(through the idea of elevation); the sky
lofty, elevated.
I suggest man's imagination offers "angel" as some thing(one) other than a messenger.

"Is the Holy Spirit the Angel of the Lord's presence?" Molly

Yes, the Holy Spirit is the messenger of the Lord's presence.

What about  Michael , (who is like God ?)  the arc angel ,  your prince  who stands with Jesus Angel of the Lord s presence

I do not see   him as the Holy Spirit though , just my opinion  , could be wrong though ... :dunno2:

Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

Dan 10:21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and [there is] none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Jud 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

Molly

At least let's get the definition of angel correct.

One of the definitions of the Hebrew word, "malak," is angel.  So to say angel means messenger is a little silly.  Malak means angel  It also means messenger.  It also means someone dispatched as a deputy.  It also means prophet, priest, teacher, ambassador, and king.

H4397
מלאך
mal'âk
mal-awk'
From an unused root meaning to despatch as a deputy; a messenger; specifically of God, that is, an angel (also a prophet, priest or teacher): - ambassador, angel, king, messenger.

Yes, Michael is specifically identified as the prince of God's people.  That's makes him the supernatural being who is the leader of God's holy people, as the princes of the tribes of Israel, or the ministers of churches,  were leaders of God's people on earth.   We see him in Dan 10:13 fighting another supernatural being, the prince of Persia.

Don't the JW's consider him to be Jesus? Others call him an archangel. But, I don't really want to talk about angels, but about the revelation of the third person of the trinity because we already know the first two, Father and Son, very well.  The third person of the trinity gets mostly ignored by the modern church, which I think is contrary to the position by some on this thread that traditions of men are taught about the HS.  Actually, almost nothing is taught about the HS.

And, I do think the role of the HS is going to become more important to God's church in the next few years, as it was in the early church.  He is mostly ignored by people who are not in trouble, imo.  And, the church is not only ignoring things, but falling away today, imo.

That is why I keep asking, where do we see the HS working in the Bible?  If a supernatural being rescued me from prison, I would consider that to be the Holy Spirit.

PS I didn't start this thread.  But, since it's here,  it is a topic near and dear to my heart...

I think that when men are confronted by a supernatural being who helps them, the first instinct is to call him an 'angel.'   We see the angel of the Lord all over the Old Testament and even in the New Testament.  But, wouldn't all angels be angels of the Lord?  Yet the angel of the Lord speaks with the voice of God.

I again   believe its the Father Son and Holy Spirit [ Wisdom ]  of God

if you place   that heavenly Wisdom of God with Holy Spirit you will be  pleasently surprised

I find here the Angel of the Lord tells Joseph    that she/Mary  is concieved of the Holy Ghost /Spirit

how can the angel of the Lord than be the Holy Spirit but by Gods Wisdom ?

Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost

I also know if  you blaspheme against the Holy Spirit / Ghost   you have not forgiveness in this  age or the age to come
this being Gods Wisdom   , you speak against His Wisdom  you have no remedy    not help nor anything

Just some words of encouragement brother. I commend you on every one of your posts. You have some very good points in your posts that aren't being addressed here. Since we are talking about the trinity theory its only fair if people defending the said theory would please use scripture that proves the trinity theory has been proven and can now be something other than a theory by some very clever men. No one can argue that the word trinity is not used in the KJV or his little brother kjv.

Keep up the good work sharing the truth with us here.

Is this verse the proof that proves the trinity without a doubt? Sorry I don't read it that way at all. No one here is denying the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. My point is that their relationship is clearly just that not a trinity. Labels are a terrible way of explaining the unexplainable.

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three who testify[a]: 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.

Hi DuWayne

One must study  and find for himself  whats Truth , God promises to give it to you and no man can take that way   from you ,  true treasures in the heart ,   that     does not shake you when   aked what faith you have   in God and that hope is in your own heart .

For me   there is God the Father of all creation
whom sent His Son Jesus  as Savior and sacrifice   and now we know that we have not seen God at any time   right ?
but yet  we do have the Holy Spirit , Gods seal , teacher , comforter  and stays with you and in you , the Very Spirit of Truth

Gods word John 14

23 Jesus answered him, "Those who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will go to them and make our home with them.

24 A person who doesn't love me doesn't do what I say. I don't make up what you hear me say. What I say comes from the Father who sent me.

25 "I have told you this while I'm still with you.

26 However, the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything. He will remind you of everything that I have ever told you.

Jesus talks to the woman at the well, the first person to whom he reveals himself as the Messiah:

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

--John 4

This verse is talking about the new body of Christ who will worship the Father with the indwelt Holy Spirit because that is the only way we can worship him in Spirit and in truth.  The indwelt Holy Spirit gives us a direct connection to the Father.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; [1 Cor 6:19]

Corinthians 3:16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your midst?

2 Corinthians 6:16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, also known as the temple of God, also known as God's temple, also known as the temple of the living God.

Molly

The indwelt Holy Spirit is a huge piece of the implementation of the New Covenant.

31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

--Jer 31

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
