HAS ANyone else read it? What do y'all think?
I have. The docter's view on hell is definately much more merciful than many others I've read, but he still holds to the idea that hell is forever.

I agree. FOr awhile, I agreed with his view.

Same here. Back when I was a believer in ET, I was still extremely uncomfortable with the idea of people being tortured forever, so when I came across the view that the torment of Hell is the absence of the presence of God, I jumped all over it. Over time, I came to see the problems with this view as well, and am now a convinced Universalist.
