Is ET truly believed or just strongly repressed?

For most of my life in the Catholic Church, I had not ever thought about let alone barely acknowledge the doctrine of Hell.  I still have no clue on what I had truly thought about Hell.  However one day several years ago, I found out what the true beliefs on Hell were and was greatly disturbed.  I could not believe that people truly believed that most of humanity was doomed to suffer in this horrible pit forever and ever.  I was utterly repulsed and frightened.  I then became an annihilationist, then half annilationist believing in a temporary hell leading to absolute destruction, and when I ran out of loopholes to justify annihilation from a Catholic perspective, I just gave up organized religion. 

So Im wondering if more people who dont acknowledge UR are just religiously indifferent, agnostic Christians, or have just repressed such an awful doctrine as Eternal Torment.  Because I find that most people who sincerely believe in this doctrine are frightened and depressed, considering a mentally sane person cannot be content with this idea of an ever burning hell, let alone love such a god. 

On the other hand those who are content with this doctrine of Hell have the worst fruits.  As in those who think that Eternal Punishment is justice, or are okay with this idea of people burning in an eternal firepit forever.  They seem to be the most hateful, violent, authoritarian, arrogant and selfish people out there.

So my question is why arent we seeing more loving and caring people with severe depression, anxiety and fear if they can sincerely say that Eternal Torment is true.

Why are people out getting careers, donating to charities, spending time alleviating suffering, researching cures for diseases, helping in times of natural disasters, going on vacations, playing sports, watching tv, celebrating, and just living life as if there was no threat of Eternal Damnation. 

To a loving person who believes in Hell, I have found they spend all their time and energy trying to reach out to people, begging them to "Please be saved".  Or just get depressed feeling so helpless that such humanitarian causes mean nothing considering how many are doomed to a horrible afterlife.

Those who are content with such an awful doctrine dont really get involved with humanitarian causes anyways.  They act more like the Pharisees acted, let alone caring about humanitarian causes.  Why should they, if they deserve hell, then they also deserve all the harm they recieve. 

In fact most Christians I know are not ultra religious, but seem more Christlike than the outspoken ones who are ultra religious fanatics. 

Plus I've learned about this in Psychology, where peoples minds are a lot more complex than they are aware of.  In fact, only 5% of the mind is in our awareness.  The rest we are not even aware of.

Yeah I think most belivers just carry on with their lives, most people are built like this and operate on automatic in a sense e.g they watch a horror movie, get scared during the movie, but then forget about the whole thing. But those who stop and think, the philosophers are often the ones tormented by the idea of hell, the automatics, don't realize what it's like to stop and think, and so are often cold hearted and indifferent "just get on with "what's wrong with you, etc etc"

 For those that I know believe in hell they believe it is everlasting and those that supposedly go to hell they deserve this, Yet they never ever think they will go to hell matters not how rotten their fruit is.
I can tell you this from being married to a hell believer for over 20 years.
His only scripture he knows is John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
I asked him where the hell was in that?
When I tell a hell believer the good news of the gospel they rather talk to you about hell,you better believe in hell cause its real is a usual response.

A psychologist told me that what someone says is not necessarily what they truly believe.  As we know, there are several cases of Evangelical Preachers who lost all their credit.  For example Ted Haggart who preached against homosexuality, and then we find has some gay prostitutes.  I can say that very few bible readers understand Universal Salvation.  But it seems like a popular belief that everyone goes to heaven, goes into the light, or the spirit world.  Even the scriptures say that you will know them by their fruits.

It's always "me" that's right. The other is wrong.
When I'm in fight the blame is always on the one I'm fighting with.
When we are at war it's alway the other country that caused it.
When I'm in a bad situation it's always caused by others.
When I'm in jail it's because teh judges are corrupt.

So it's one big game of shifting blame.
People do the same with heaven and hell. Hell is about blame. And by defenition it's others that deserve the blame.
