I know it sounds crazy. Over at city-data, there is one particularly obnoxious and hateful poster, who keeps repeating the idea that we are to hate God's enemies. These are his primary proof-texts:
2 chron 19:
2And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? [NO] therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.
ps 139:
19Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? 22I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
I'm interested in what you guys say here. Especially Seth, as he wrote a good article about God's hate at his mercifultruth.com page.

He seems stuck in the old covenant.
43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
--Mat 5
10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
---Rom 5
Yep I agree Molly.
And when I point out those verses you posted, more hate just pours out. And usually a repost of 2 Chron 19 and Psalm 139:21, as if that some how nullifies Matt 5:43-45.
Its an interesting phenomenon. From my understanding of this person's viewpoint, we are only to love enemies who are elect. The non-elect are God's enemies and those we should hate.
:sigh:
Twisted I know.
What about forgiveness?
Pray for your enemies?
What were some of the last words out of our Savior's mouth as he hung on the cross of salvation?
Their minds are closed.
If you are lead of the Father to minister to them, you will succeed.
Each in his own order.

Please forgive me if what I'm about to post offends anyone, but when I hear the word christian (meaning orthodox), I immediately associate the word with that of a charlatan of the worst kind,eg a 2 faced, lying, backstabbing, narcissistic, hypocritical snake :mshock: :sigh:
Unfortunately, true much too often, and only He refuses to allow me to give up on the Body of Christ with His 1Thessalonians 3:8-13 calling He's had on me since September 13, 1997. Sometimes wanna burn down as many Churches as I'd ever wanna build over various issues, not just ET, but "in such an hour as ye think not" He's straightening all of it out and making it the trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord so that He'll be glorified!! But in the meantime, there's lots of weeping and gnashing of teeth at what many view as being a Christian -- whether they're in Church or not. There's ZERO VIRTUOUS about not being in Church weekly/monthly. Most of the time the folks that think they're Christians avoiding the Church to only be with the Christ are hundreds of times worse into their own absolutely disgusting religion where I'm concerned than anything that they poo poo of organized structure in the mainstream that's usually in many circles prayerfully approached for decency, order, and the edification of the saints. In saying this, not really thinking of denominational rigid structure, but nondenominational stuff mainly.

I honestly believe it's a doctrine to justify why you have hate in your heart . Beloved57 freely admits there is hatred in his heart , his justification is it's channeled towards those who are not of the elect.
The problem is though, Beloved57 doesn't even know who The Elect are. So how does he know who to hate?? It's goofy if you ask me.
