Hi Gary,
You said that the kjv translators used hell for hades everywhere? Not quite. And I’m sure you are aware of this. In 1 cor 15 towards the end of the chapter, they translate hades as grave!! This is according to my Biblespeak program I got from you. I clicked the strongs # for grave and got hades. It said hades was rendered as hell ten times, and as grave once. There in 1 Corinthians 15 at the end of the chapter. Very interesting isn’t it. What were they thinking? Perhaps, “we can’t put hell here, Paul is asking where is your victory regarding hades” That would not make sense! Seeing as they believe that hell will have plenty of victory over lost people!
Gary: Technically, it depends upon which Greek Text you use. The textus Receptus, basically the Greek text behind the King James Bible contained Hades in the last portion of 1 Cor. 15:55 but the Nestle-Aland text, which is the main text used today by most Bible translators, they had the word thanatos (death). It took me a long time to figure that out.
