Saints who have come before us, angels, and us.

The armies of God under Christ.

The expression "Jehovah of armies" is found in the Bible some 249 times. And within the "twelve minor prophets", it is found over 100 times, with the book of Zechariah having it 53 times. What is meant by this ?

David, in speaking with the taunting Goliath, said: "You are coming to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I am coming to you with the name of Jehovah of armies, the God of the battle lines of Israel, whom you have taunted. This day Jehovah will surrender you into my hand . . . And all this congregation will know that neither with sword nor with spear does Jehovah save, because to Jehovah belongs the battle." (1Sa 17:45-47) Dependence upon Jehovah's spirit and not military force is shown to be essential and effective. (Zec 4:6)

God has at his disposal hundreds of millions of angels, to do his bidding. At Daniel 7, Daniel sees a vision: "I kept on beholding until there were thrones placed and the Ancient of Days sat down. His clothing was white just like snow, and the hair of his head was like clean wool. His throne was flames of fire; its wheels were a burning fire. There was a stream of fire flowing and going out from before him. There were a thousand thousands that kept ministering to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand (100 million) that kept standing right before him. The Court took its seat, and there were books that were opened."

And at Psalms 103, David says: "Bless Jehovah, O you angels of his, mighty in power, carrying out his word, By listening to the voice of his word. Bless Jehovah, all you armies of his, You ministers of his, doing his will."(Ps 103: 20, 21) Thus, there stands before Jehovah God 100's of millions of angels that await his command as his "armies", such as when an angel decimated the entire army of king Sennacherib by killing 185,000 in one night.(Isa 37:36)

In the near future, these angelic armies, under the command of Jesus Christ, will destroy all the political governments of the earth (Rev 19:11-21), called at Revelation 13, a "wild beast".(Rev 13:1, 2; 16:14, 16)

Welcome to tentmaker Jaareshiah
"Why do so many people think that the Bible is only inspired at certain points -  and that  THEY are inspired to pick out which points?"
