Some Guidelines From The Moderators
« on: May 23, 2014, 06:55:42 PM »

In the light of some recent issues on the board, and the banning of some members in the last few months- we thought it might be a good idea to clarify a few policies of the board so that anyone with questions could understand the actions of the moderators.

Tentmaker stands on the integrity and inspiration of all the scriptures in the commonly accepted cannon of the Bible. This does not mean that other writings may not in some measure be inspired. It means that for the purpose of the site, only the scriptures in the Old Testament and New Testament cannon are accepted as God-breathed and of suitable authority to be used in our discussions. Books and epistles like the Apocrypha, Enoch, Clement, Barnabus, etc. may be used in reference, but not asserted with the weight of "scripture" attached to them for the purpose of the forum. No teaching or assertion invalidating the scriptures of the OT & NT cannon (beyond translation issues) is allowed here. We may freely question what the scriptures mean, but the site is firmly established upon a foundation of the validity and inspiration of the Bible, so it is not up for debate- there are other sites for that.

Tentmaker is a place for fellowship, edification and encouragement among those who believe in the salvation of all, also commonly known as Ulltimate Universal Reconciliation, the Restoration of All Things, or biblical Christian Universalism. This is not a site for Unitarian Universalists or new age universalism or pantheism. We believe that "Every knee shall bow, whether on earth, in heaven or under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father"(Phil 2:9,10) and that "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name given among men by which they must be saved"(Acts 4:12). We believe everyone will come to God though a revelation of Jesus Christ that is being unveiled though the ages like a rose coming to full bloom, or the early dawn unto the full noon. We believe the Holy Spirit will teach us all truth, unveiling Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in the scriptures and in the heart, mind and soul of every human being until God is "all in all". (1 Cor 15:28; Romans 11:36).

Teaching salvation through all faiths or any other faith than that which is in YHWH, the I Am, the Almighty God AND His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ is not allowed. There are other sites for that.

Among those who come here from various perspectives and backgrounds in their faith in Christ there are differences in doctrine and understanding and degrees of emphasis on other issues than the focus of Tentmaker, which is the salvation of all through the victorious gospel of Jesus Christ. These issues can be freely discussed but are not allowed to overshadow the conversation about the salvation of all through Jesus. Controversial issues may be discussed, but only in a reasonable, friendly tone. Dissension and strife over peripheral doctrinal issues is not allowed. Again, there are other sites for that.

Tentmaker is not a place for prophets and teachers to make declarations of special revelations or authoritative teachings on debatable issues. "I believe" and "in my opinion" or "as I see it" should be the attitude of our conversations. Name calling, belittling, threatening(especially spiritual threatening of judgment) are not allowed and will be moderated.

Tentmaker is not dedicated to growth, numerically. It is dedicated to serving seekers and preserving an atmosphere where they can find answers to questions about the salvation of all through the Lord Jesus Christ as well as providing an atmosphere of fellowship and edification among those who already believe. We believe "that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not counting their trespasses against them and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation"(2 Cor 5:18).

Moderating is difficult. We all have our axes to grind at times. Anyone can get caught up in enthusiasm over a particular issue or discussion or debate. We all have times when we hear from God or believe we have full assurance about our views. The parameters around which one may speak with full assurance on Tentmaker are purposely rather narrow for a good reason.

No one should feel "leaned on" by some one else's "divine assurance" when in discussion about divergent opinions.  There are other sites for that kind of conflict and debate. Here, the scriptures are the basis for discussion, and the attitude is one of sharing views and opinions- not declaring authoritative teachings about issues of doctrine or prophecy that are peripheral to the purpose of the site, which is, once more, to offer the Victorious Good News of the Salvation of All through the Lord Jesus Christ.

James 3:13 -18 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

2 Timothy 2:23 -25But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if perhaps God will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth
The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood.

This forum is such a blessing now. Civil, gentlemanly (and ladylike) discourse over difficult issues. I think it's become a valuable resource for seekers.
